I plan to do it! I cannot wait...I have heard the venue is great and it is attached to the hotel so it is super convenient for the competitors :) I have heard nothing but good things about this show and a lot of my teammates compete in it each year.
I do not really know what "look" they like but it is different judges than Junior Nationals, that much I do know! My coach's plan for me is to take the 2 months between Team U and North Americans to eat, rest and fill back out...but that is always my goal, to stay full, so that doesn't really say much LOL
I am looking forward to the show...see ya there!
Hey Gene, are you going??? How about everyone else? Are they having the pro show this year too?

Oops, I just checked the Calendar and I see you are going to be at Canadian Nationals, Gene :)
BTW, that calendar is pretty nifty! I am always looking around for the show dates and you have to go to all these different sites...I have friends who compete in other federations and when I am trying to figure out where they are, it is a hassle! Next time, I'll just check here!!!

I'm going to give the north americans a try this year. Do they like a softer look? Go more for shape than size?

if you take 2 months to eat and rest.........when will you start getting ready for NA? isn't it only about 2 months (or less than) from team u?

I know some who want to try it as a tuneup for nationals. To see what the judges might want there and then do nat's.

Jeni yes in the states they are going for softer and you would probably do well there.
Macey nice to see you here - I'm so behind on photo editing/selects! You would also do really well at NAs.
Ya'll Canadian girls should definitely do the show - I am pretty sure James will be there to cover it while I'm up in your country for your bodybuilding nationals.

It is always your strategic decision to come into a contest "soft" or hard," UpNorthGirl. If you decide, in advance, to come in to the North Americans "soft," I am willing to bet you that no matter how you place in this contest any person or persons that place higher than you will be harder, not softer than you.
Your best bet is to come into this contest in the shape and condition that YOU think is the best look for YOU. Forget about anything that Sandy Ranali or any of the other NPC "officials" have to say at this time. The advice and guidelines they give changes from season to season, contest to contest. If you always try to conform with what they tell you, you will find yourself trying to hit a moving target, and you will find it more difficult to succeed at the highest levels of this sport. Good Luck.

That's very good advice Echo. People ultimately should do what they like best because you should do it for yourself. Not for others. Things change so much that there are definitely no guarantees/

Hi Macey!
For sure we will have to hang out back stage! Maybe we can talk Sandra into coming and spraying us again! That stuff was great!!
Thanks for the advice Echo! I feel what I brought to the national stage this year was good, maybe a bit more tight in the lower half, but other than that I was happy with my changes this year. I'm looking forward to competing the states again.
See you soon Macey!
Thanks for the compliment Gene!

Yup! It is 8 weeks away but I am already dieted down. But I should clarify, I will only take about 10 days off of training and dieting :) Besides, I have such a fast metabolism, it only takes me about 6 weeks to get to contest condition anyway. Yes, I am lucky that way but I also have to eat and train like mad in the off season to make any gains!
My first show this year was Junior USA's and I started dieting mid March for the show which was end of April. I think that was my best condition yet too. I have to stay as full as possible and pull in the conditioning last minute :) As it is right now, I am taking weekly cheat meals and sticking to a higher carb diet just to maintain :P Everyone has their issues....LOL

I've noticed that from this posting that a good number of figure Gals are fired up & motivated to compete at this show but I'm curious to know which Women Bodybuilders are going to compete at this show?
Plus I've heard that there will be Mexican athletes competing in this contest for the first time in a couple of years which would be cool besides the US & Canadian athletes.
Hopefully next year that the Canadian Nationals Bodybuilding contest and the North Americans would be held on different dates so you could see the best of the best from all 3 countries on the continent competing for the IFBB pro card.
Especially in the Bodybuilding portion of the show.

I agree, hopefully next year it will be on a different date, to give the bber's a 2nd show to qualify in. It's tough with only one or two cards a year given out.
We have so many potential pro up here in canada.

I plan on doing the North Americans. My last show was the JrUSA, so I've had a little bit of a break. Time to kick it into gear now!
See you all there :)

I am new to this site but will be doing the NA in september. My name is Tracy Mason and I can definetely say that the NA has been a very well run contest in the past. Gary does a real nice job making all the competitors feel comfortable and the venue makes it worth while as well.
Good luck to all that are competing. Hope to see a good turnout. I look forward to meeting any of you that post on this site as well as others. You all seem to be very nice people.
Good luck and see you in Clevelad.

Thankyou for the compliment. Where did you find that photo. I have not seen any of those that were taken at the Junior Nationals. Could you let me know where you found it so I can pull them up. Thankyou again, Tracy Mason

Melody will be there in full force! I am so proud of her. She looks amazing and is very focused for this show. She gets so excited as the shows come closer! She will be in Figure class b. She took 2nd at the USA's in class B so we'll see how she does at the North Americans!! Either way she is a winner to me!!
