View Full Version : Unsolicited Advice

I rarely offer unsolicited advice. And even when asked for advice, I usually try to be reserved in my opinions for I know that I'm still a veritable novice of the art.
Nevertheless, in this case, I feel that my recent experience could be beneficial to many of the other photographers, both amateur and professional, who frequently monitor these forums. And I'm pretty certain that the following words of advice will prove useful in almost all cases ...
Don't drop your two-thousand dollar camera in the river. Escpecially if it's attached to a three-thousand dollar lens.
Just some friendly advice. Take it for what it's worth.

Well, I hadn't cleaned my lens in a while. I guess I thought I'd dunk it in water and give it a good rinse. Next time, I'll probably just use one of those little lint-free tissues.

Well not sure if getting it as dry as you can will help. I hope that is not a lose for you.

Better for it to take a dunk and be recoverable than to come untethered from the helo skid and fall 1800 feet into a forest.

Does anyone have an web site or e-mail for Amit Victoria ? She was at the San booth. Trying to get her to autograph photos from 2005 & 2006 Arnold Classic.
Thanks

Update... I just got my babies back last week!! Nikon says they're in perfect working order. I've been so busy that I haven't even pulled them out of the plastic bags they returned them in yet. Believe it or not, the lens was only $69 to fix!!! Wholey Mackerel, what a bargain!! That was a phenominal price. They wanted $250 just to clean it earlier in the year, but I said no thank you for that price. Next time I think I'll just drop it in the river again. The camera was a little pricier thorugh. That's ok, I'm in good hands with Allstate!

John I'm glad to hear that everything worked out for you. I have to add that that was the funniest post I've read. I think you may have missed your calling and may need to quit your day job and become a comedian!
