I have to get this thread started again right after the hype of the USAs, Team Universe & the Jr. Nationals since this is one of the top pro qualifiers on the continent that several well loved and respect Bodybuilders & Fitness Athletes their pro cards including 3 Ms. Olympias.
And everyone's curious to find out which Women Bodybuilders & Fitness Women are going to compete at the contest and join the pro ranks of the IFBB. So feel free to give a shoutout, let your feelings show and NO HATING!! Gotta give some Love, Props & Respect to our Heroes. Peace. :dj_spnnin :)

Mmm, good topic...
I don't know what the NAs will have in store for you guys this year, but I think the question of the day is whether Angela Salvagno should go ahead and do Cleveland or stick with her current plan to compete at Nationals instead.
I'm thinking Miami, but that's just a little personal bias on my side.
Assuming Angela does opt for Nationals, then you've got to look deeper at the light-heavyweight class, and taking a peek at the heavies, I'm sure that Sherry Smith will be one of the most popular competitors onstage. Heather's victory at the USAs certainly sets the proper tone for crowning Sherry at North Americans.
I love it when good things happen!

Now Tre, that a Good analysis of events that could happen given the current circumstances. As for me I like this pro qualifier along with the Team Universe as well as the NPC Nationals because it gives the Ladies (in particular FBBs & Fitness Women) a Greater shot at earning their pro cards more so than the USAs.
Plus since the Canadian Nationals being on the same day as the NAs you'll wind up having 2 countries instead of 3 that are sending their athletes to compete at this event.
Hopefully next year the Canadian Nationals would be held on a different date so it would give Canadian Women Bodybuilders & Fitness Women a 2nd chance to compete for that pro card plus it would be Great to have all 3 nations (Canada, Mexico & The United States) in friendly international competiton.

So now without any further ado, Anyone else please let me know which Beautiful Women Bodybuilders & Fitness Women will be competing at the upcoming North Americans because I expect for it to be a much better contest than the USA's since not just only it's a pro qualifier but it will give the Ladies a taste of what it's like to go up against to of the competitors internationally as well. Which is cool.
Inquiring minds would like to know, Peace.:dj_spnnin:)

I will be there as a heavy weight. I don't know that I would be a "contender" at all, but I am already looking better than I did at the Jr.USA. I'm excited to see how I look beside the "big gals"!! It's a little scary and exciting at the same time!

Great to see you on the board Isabelle! The past couple of weeks I couldn't see your website, and spent a lot of nights crying and weeping that maybe you were gone. There's so many deserving women, and every year they get a little more dialed in. It's always a great show.
One of these years, I'm gonna book vacation time, and take in a major show. Good luck to all the girls.

Well, as far as who deserves a pro card at this show?? There are many.. But I have to say that Sherry Smith is over-due.. She's paid her dues and she deserves a card... Give the woman some love already..!! It ain't right.. They strung Annie Rivieccio out for years and years.. That was a slap in the face.. That girl deserved her card years ago.. She has some serious patience and I have nothing but mad respect for her "stick-to-it-ism"..
I just hope they don't pull the same crap with Sherry.. I mean come on, that chick has got skills and she's super pretty to boot.. Give it up already...!!

I gotta bump this..C'MON ALREADY!!!
I will be doing the North Americans. This will be my first tme competing as a Light Heavy Weight. I will miss my fellow heavyweight competitors but I'm anxious to try something new.
My observation has been the larger (not necessarily harder) Heavyweight is winning her class. Larger as far as height too. At a barely 5'3" I don't have a chance...I'm normally the shortest heavy on stage. I'm hoping the Light Heavy will be a better fit for me. To loose that much weight I will end up coming in harder. It seems they want that for the light heavy weights. ...why I am still trying to figure out what "they" want ...I don't know.
It's a game and I'm playin!

First have to say you do look awesome and I wish you well.
But I'm hear to tell you like I've told the other Divas, this game that you trying to play is a ridiculous one, that doesn't make sense no matter how you slice it. And if you have to continue playing this "game" of what do they want.......then you may have to start saying to yourself that it just IS NOT worth it. Because in all honesty and I hate to say it.....but your future in this sport doesn't look very bright anyway even you do turn pro. It has absolutely nothing to do with you......but with the organization and how they continue to diminish the ladies pro division.
Now if your someone who ok with competing at the most.....once a year, then I guess all will be good for you, but certainly not for the fans of course, because with a physique as good as yours - its something we want to see a lot of up there.
So just thought I say that to give you another perspective to think about....but I definately as I said hope you do well and achieve your goals.

Eddie..I know. I've quit so many times you have no idea! lol I love it too much to quit. I'd love to compete more than I do...I'd do every show I could...if I had the money. At least I'm showing that I can keep doing everything I'm told to do..one time up there I will come in my best and better than my fellow competitors. If I win or not it doesn't matter...I will always know I was the best. It's a competition we have with ourselves. I haven't gotten myself where I'd like to yet. Don't know if I ever will but I am still at a point where I'm willing to try.

Hey, I definately give you credit for continuing the fight......and as long as that true passion you have for it stays strong and your happy.....then its all good for everybody.
And that's something I have come to understand more and more now.....is that many of you Divas on the bodybuilding side of things.....do indeed compete for yourselves and not for financial benefit. Guess is just a credit to your discipline and strong will.....in that you can't be rattled so easily.
Anyway.......keep it girl, you getting better and better.
Absolutely love those calves of yours.....some of the best in the business....:D

But before I attend this gig, I'm going to attend the 2006 NPC Motor City (Formerly Known As the NPC Central States, National Qualifier) Bodybuilding, Fitness & Figure Championships as well as the IFBB Motor City Pro Figure Championships (Olympia Qualifier) over at the Hyatt Regency in the Detroit suburb of Dearborn, MI.
I've seen Amy Schmid (whoohoo!!) won the Middleweights & overalls at this contest last year to qualify for National Level competiton and attending this contest as well as the after party in the same Hotel will get me motivated and prepared for attending the IFBB North Americans in Cleveland, OH during the weekend of September 15 - 16.

This comes with great regret to inform you that my wife Melody Clere is not going to be able to compete at the North Americans. After a 5th place finish at the Team U and a 2nd place finish at the USA's Melody was sure she was in real contention to earn her pro card at this show.
Over the past three weeks she has been noticing that she was holding water. It confused both myself and her trainer since she is so strict with her diet and training. What was interesting was that her fat calipers showed that she was a lot more leaner than in previous shows but the "look" was not quite right. Melody also told me that she felt "Spongy" and something was not right. Well, she knows her body more than anyone. Last night she noticed that one of her implants was leaking. She said she noticed it that day but it was really pronounced last night. It finally hit me that her body was absorbing the saline that was leaking thus the reason for water retention. Salt water! Well, she called her plastic surgeon and she is going to have surgery next week. This however will pull her from the competition unfortunately. Her health comes first and maybe this was a sign that this show was not meant to be. She is dissapointed but she is one of the strongest people I know. I am very proud of my wife and her accomplishments and I know she will blow the doors off next year. I want to thank everyone that has given support and let you know it was greatly appreciated. Melody had a great year and met a lot of awesome people such as Gene and everyone else on this forum. Thank you guys!!!
Sincerely,

I know that it's going down to the wire big time and I'm looking forward to seeing this event from prejudging to the evening finals.
One thing though for all of the folks who are from Ohio listen up, I know that there's always a lot of road construction in your state as I've experienced driving from Detroit to Columbus for the 2006 Arnold's and back.
So I gotta know are there any major road contruction along the Ohio Turnpike between US I-75 in Toledo and the city of Cleveland? Please let me know because I'm driving again since it's only a 2 1/2 hour drive from my home in Detroit. The "Motor City" fan would appreciate it.
Beyond that again, I'm looking forward to attending this International Pro Qualifier of the best that North America has to offer, and I hope to see the return of Canadian athletes to join their US and Mexican counterparts at this pretigous contest in the future, that would be Great, Peace.

I don't believe there will be many if any Mexican competitors in this event.
As bodybuilding especially on the ladies side is not that prominant in that country.

She wanted me to tell everyone thank you for all of your kind words of encouragement and that you are in our hearts. Take care all!
P.S. I told the doctor to install some Goodyears with a 100,000 mile warranty on them so these will last! lol J/K They look great!!

That's awesome news Ronster!
I look forward to seeing Melody's return and her better than ever physique! :carrot:

Hey Ron, thanks for the update and I hope that Melanie will get better so she'll be back in Top Form on stage in the Future. Best of both of you on your Wedding Anniversary.
Eddie as for the editing part you and some other folks won't get the whole story by chopping up what I've said that's why I would LOVE it if someone wants to quote me than get the whole story instead of bits & pieces. I know that Femalemusclefan does the same thing as well.

Hey Jasons805, let's not forget FTV's Wild Webcam as well for those who won't be able to attend the contest, they would get the chance to view the Athletes on the next Best thing.
I believe that the last time that FT Videos has done a Wild Webcam would be the 2004 IFBB North Americans because the following year James had to shoot at the 2005 North Americans and Gene had to shoot at the Canadian Nationals so since the Canadian Equivalent of the NPC decided to have their pro qualifier on the same day as the NAs, it has ruined the chances of plenty of Canadian Bodybuilders a 2nd chance to earn a pro card since there's plenty of Good FBBs North of the Border.
Hopefully this nasty situation would be rectified next year so it would make it easier on both the contestants as well as both Gene & James.

I thought one was at each show. Maybe that was the plan, but to much must be going on.

September 7th, 2006, 11:36 PM
Well there could've been one at this show if both qualifiers weren't held on the same day, then that would've made it easier on both Gene and James and they won't have to divide their camps just to have one of them to go across the Border to get coverage where everything they could keep their whole unit under one roof.

Learning that Sherry Smith will be competing just made this contest even more interesting. Sherry brought pro-level condition to the stage at the 2005 USA Championships and, arguably, could have been awarded the heavyweight class title over Heather Policky.
The Womens heavyweight class at the '06 North American Championships may very well be the most competitive one we have seen in the last two years. Judges, please don't let us down.

I'll make sure that my car will be in Good condition from the journey from Detroit to Cleveland and back because this will make my weekend. :D
More Women Bodybuilders than figure is a plus because like I've said before on other threads figure has been getting way to much exposure (web, print, contests, etc.) and I'm tired of it. Kim,
This is so exciting! I can't wait to be there for the FBB competition. Looks to be fierce. I think we are going to have some photographers upset about going to the Canadian show instead of Cleveland, OH! What do you think?
By the way, I am the gal that talked to you @ the Alabama State show that will be in Figure at North American. I wish you a safe trip to Cleveland and hope to see you there. I am glad you are representing Alabama! Best of Luck!
As for detriots comments, I agree that Figure gets a lot more exposure. I think there should be a good balance between the exposure for all the Lady's division's: FBB, Figure and Fitness. Not many feel the way we do. Main stream America does not relate to the overall "Freaky Ripped to the Shreds Vasularity" of women BB. Just b/c we like this look does not mean everyone else likes the look. However, I do think the NPC and IFBB should treat each women's division equally as far as exposure and rewards within the organization. Outside of the organization is going to be about what sells to the masses. This speaks for itself. However, I feel your excitment!!!! I am excited for FBB too!
OH, I am one Figure athlete that gets "FREAKY RIPPED AND SHREDDED VASCULARITY" at contest time. I don't do this for the judges (obviously, b/c judges require a softer look), I do this for me. Therefore, I feel more comfortable with this package and love getting on stage with it.

Therefore, I feel more comfortable with this package and love getting on stage with it.Well to the person who misspelled my Hometown it's spelled Detroit: D-E-T-R-O-I-T like in Detroit, Michigan "The Motor City Capital in the World" and home to Super Bowl XL (40) LOL.:D
Also there's not too many figure gals that could get ripped like the Women Bodybuilders & Fitness Women because to me in that division the judges are going for more of a softer look plus no offense to the folks who compete in that division The Women look Good and are Attractive but to a Good number of folks it's more like a Beauty Pagent minus the evening gowns. To me The FBBs & Fitness Women bring on more action to the table at contest time, which I Admire & Respect about them.
Very few Figure Women could get very "Freaky Shredded Vascular & Ripped" but not a lot so they could place high with judges. And what Tgooch has said is what has been already mentioned in The General's thread of "Flex swimsuit edition" a while ago is that if you've got to hype of figure then don't do it at the expense of the Women Bodybuilders & Fitness Women.
And those who do pack on some ripped vascularity on their physiques may want to consider Bodybuilding. Thank God for the 20% ruling. I would LOVE to see more Women Bodybuilders than figure Women period.
Man, Where's the "SHADOWMAN" when you need him. He could explain things so elequently in "SHADOWMAN STYLE". Other than that I'm looking forward to seeing A whole lot more Hardcore Women Bodybuilders & Fitness Women more than the figure gals. This is the time for FBBs to represented Big Time.
And one more thing besides my Heroes of Women's Bodybuilding & Fitness I've got to give some Major Props & Respect to my Detroit Lions!!!!!! New coach, new attitude I'm so fired up!!!!!
Now let's bring on Some Beautiful and Sexy "Freaky Shredded Vascular Ripped" Hardcore Women Bodybuilders to get this gig all fired up. Footbal Season & Bodybuilding a perfect combination. Peace.:)

I absolutely agree!!! Debbie is the most beautiful bodybuilder in the World and, at this juncture, in absolutely phenominal shape.
For those who have not noticed I would like to point out that this extraordinary athlete has completely transformed her incredible physique to meet the requirements of the new NPC/IFBB requirements for female bodybuilders. A quick comparison of videos taken a few years ago against those taken recently will clearly show the adjustments, which fully satisfy the new rules without in any way sacrificing from the traditional Debbie Bramwell quality.
For years now the IFBB has been seeking female bodybuilders that combine muscularity and feminity. Debbie has both of these qualities in spades and on top of that there is not a finer human being in the entire sport.

That's Good Procarri!! The more Women Bodybuilders who are competing at this show more that the figure gals will be much better than the Amount of FBBs that competed at the USAs.
Again no Hating or Disrespect to the figure gals, but they have way too many pro qualifiers and in my opinion this should contest should be as far as the Women's side of the sport goes, Women's Bodybuilding & Fitness just like at the NPC Nationals with the top 4 weight class winners including the Overall winner should recieve pro cards than this would be an even more Bigger contest since you're including contestants from the United States, Canada & Mexico.
Women Bodybuilders (including the Hardcore & Drug-Free kind) & Fitness Women need Love too.

Ed no offense but don't even go there on this thread since you've been called out over at TomNine's August shoot's thread for what you've said about Maria & Mary Ellen so I say Major Props to the other posters over at that thread for calling you out.
HA HA - Well yeah OK - Touche my friend, you got me on that one.....
And Hey, I'm not offended, because I was only joking in the first place.
So chill out a little bit Chris, you gotta learn the difference of when somone is doing light-hearted humor from when someone is being serious.
For the record I stand by what I said on that other thread and I'm sorry that Tom couldn't handle it......but I'm not expecting everyone to be fine and dandy with my comments anyway, because I don't hold anything back and some folk don't like it.......but whatever.
Now as far as other matters go......with this contest and I know is some deserving athlete will leave disappointed again as there just not enough pro cards to go around....but I'm sure many of them just view this as a tune up for the Nationals anyhow.

Hey TK, I've gotta let you know that back in March when I've driven from Detroit to Columbus by way of US I-75 to US I-71 to get to the Arnold's and back that there was nothing but cops pulling folks over left and right, So I'm not joking about Traffic enforcement in your State.
Ah well there's part of your problem...what a terrible route from Detroit to Columbus ;) For next time, from someone who's made the Columbus-Toledo trip countless times and headed to Detroit on more than one occasion: I-75 to SR-15, which turns into US-23. Take 23 to Delaware, then US-36/SR-37 over the I-70 south, and there ya go! WAY shorter, and way less law enforcement.
But by the way is US I-280 or US I-90 E which leads into the Ohio Turnpike, are the roads repaired because it would make travel time for me much easier. Please let me know.
Since I've driven a grand total of 15 miles on the turnpike, I probably wouldn't be the best person to ask  All I can tell ya is that I recall there being construction in the I-280 area during my travel through Toledo last month when I was up there for the Motor City show.
Safe travels! And good luck with the cops ;)

But other than that I've been Maxing & Relaxing getting ready for my journey on the "Ohio Express" to Cleveland.
Because as for now I've gotta Give my Favorite Women Bodybuilders & Fitness Women plenty of Love, Props & Respect. And hey I'm a very proud opinionated person who will at times will tell it like I see it period.
And that's on my mind right now instead of the figure vs FBBs/Fitness Women. And as of this weekend Women Bodybuilders & Fitness Women rules Big Time.

Safe travels! And good luck with the cops ;)Actually that's not a terrible route because I don't like dealing with dirt country roads I like that quick route and as a matter of fact I've made it there in 3 1/2 hrs instead of 4 1/2 hours that it would've taken me to get to Cincinnatti.
I like to use the turnpike to get to Sandusky Ohio for Cedar Point or to get to Cleveland instead of taking the back roads. But I've got some directions to get to the contest as well as my Hotel room and Back.
I'll make sure that I'll take it easy on the Turnpike since it's crawling with cops period. And for now enough of the drama and let's bring on The Babes of Feminine Muscle. Thank God for Women Bodybuilders, So Beautiful and So Sexy. See you at the show.:)

me this am...
we've had a total fiasco since we've arrived...our hotel sold out our room and then sent us 30 min away to a place that HAD a room until we got there who then sent us to another place w/out decent interet connection.
this am we moved to the second hotel where the connection seems to be good but we've been running all day.
We had weigh ins tonight. I had to go up to the scale 3 times but did make the Light Heavy Weights. **whew** At first I was 1.5 lbs over then 1 lb over then finally hit it at exactly 140
Tomorrow we are actually heading BACK to the other hotel closer to the venue
I"m BEAT!! lol can't wait to eat and sleep!
Good night all see you when I get home

Lest we forget, there is a certain outstanding female bodybuilder by the name of Debbie Bramwell who will also be in tomorrow's event. She is in absolutely spectacular condition and in great spirits. With all of the asembled talent it should be an interesting event.

I spoke to Michelle earlier today. Isabelle got first callout in the LHW, followed by Michelle, then Debbie, then Maya Stone, and Anne Sheehan. Sherry Smith got 1st callout in the heavies. I trust Michelle's judgement, as she is totally unbiased and a seasoned veteran of countless National shows, and according to her Isabelle looks good enough to win the overall. We'll see how it goes, but Michelle says Isabelle looks great. Apparently Isabelle did a great job of getting ready for this show. Good job by Isabelle. :sprite10:

Earlier in this thread I had mentioned that after speaking with Michelle Brent I was pretty sure Isabelle was going to win the show. Isabelle must have looked great for Michelle to give her such high praise. I congratulate Isabelle on winning the LHW class.
And now for Sherry :sprite10: . I want to extend my heartfelt congratulations to Sherry :  . I cannot begin to express how happy I am for her. Ever since I met Sherry she has been a very sweet, personable woman to speak to. She is a very classy and distinguised competitor that has steadily improved year by year and personifies excellence. She has always been graceful even when many people felt she deserved better, and I admire her persistence. I wish her nothing but the best in her IFBB career. Way to go Sherry!!

Nga has stated that Bill Comstock, of www.graphicmuscle.com, will have the photos and all the results up when he returns to LA.
Notice that there aren't any placings for the umpteen jillion figure competitors in this show. I also believe that the figure girls were up prior to the bodybuilders, which gave Bill a little bit of time to upload the photos.
While I'm on the edge of my seat, anxiously awaiting results and images, we must remember the efforts of the photographers. They sit through hours upon hours of judging and work through hours of hours of photo shoots and still get the websites updated within days.

Gread post, Jodi - We were there all weekend, and we saw Bill at the weigh-ins, Friday night's Figure prejudging (8 classes, between Master's and Open) and then again all over the prejudging, and finals...and when we tuned into Graphicmuscle on Saturday mid-day, the comparisons of the figures were already posted...and TONS of shots! Great work by Bill - sincerely...
this type of coverage is huge to competitors and fans who, as you said, are sitting on the edge of their seats, waiting for the latest news! :camera:

So far all we know is that Sherry won HW and Overall, Belle won LHW and looked great, and Amy Sibcy was 2d MW.
Robin mentioned the first callout LHWs, including Michelle, Debbie, Maya and Annie S, but we don't have placings.
Even partial and/or approximate results would be welcome - a lot of people reading these boards have friends who were in the show.
