Good morning all. Just curious if anyone has heard who is planning on competing in bodybuilding, fitness, or figure at the Masters in Pittsburgh? Event is the weekend of July 22-24.

I've heard that Deniz Odar is also competing. She placed first last year in the Hvywts.
This will be the first pro card of the season given out. Not as much publicity as the USA's, but the same number of pro cards :)

Robin Parker could probably clean house if she did it. I don't think she is though...

Michelle thoroughly deserves her pro card, and it would be her reward for her years of hard training and professional dedication she brings to the sport. I'm sure the younger girls who class her as an example to follow would agree.

Thanks for the thought Scott... but definitely not doing this show. Too much going on for the USA. I've got my sights set on that ONLY. Can't focus on two shows when I already have the USA to plan for. :)

We'll be doing our damnest to give Robin the very best competition possible!! Pam has added an inch on her legs since last year and is now a heavyweight. She's ahead of schedule on the fat loss so we're experimenting with different carb-up strategies.
That pro card is up for grabs, but we all don't know what the judges are looking for. Is excessive leanness now being downgraded?

I'm not a FBB, but I am a figure competitor. And if the judging goes like it did for figure this past weekend, then I would say that they're downgrading leanness. I thought the judging this past weekend was crazy, not only in figure but in some of the bodybuilding classes!!!! I knew going into this show as a practice for me just to get the experience and see what a national level competiton was about that I was not going to place well, but there were some girls that worked there butt off to get there and did not get noticed at all, didn't even make the top 10. It's nuts!!!! I definitely think Traci Redding should have been up there, if not won. She looked amazing. Keep up the good work, gir!!!!!!

Personally, I'd have pam come in the way SHE WANTS.... Who cares what *they* want at this point. It's all over the place and personally I dont think they know what they want. At one time I thought it was about having a really feminine face, but still able to have a shredded, muscular body. Since Jrs, I've changed my thoughts on that and think they dont give a sh*t to what they do with fbbing. I feel bad for Ms. Neil at the Jrs, bc she got screwed the big one. She's a really talented girl that IS ATTRACTIVE.
Robin will be hard to beat if judged FAIRLY......... she's shredded year round, so it will be all about personal preference. Do whatever it takes for PAM to be HAPPY when she sees pictures of herself after the show. :)

I guess that's where we differ Amanda. Pam is entering this to WIN.....not to just compete and be happy. And that means trying to read the judges tea leaves :)
In your post above you mentioned facial attractiveness, size, and definition as the factors that determine placing. Where does symmetry fit in? And waist size? Is the below pic a fair representation of Ms. Neil's structure? If so, maybe structure (which is largely genetic) plays a much larger part in placings than people think.

Maybe I am talking about a different girl? I am going by the picture posted in the contest report on Gene's site. Its a black girl, isn't that her or is that a different girl? Maybe I am confused w/ names because I wasn't there and the picture isn't labeled?
2nd... Pam is entering to win, I can appreciate that.... but FOR WHAT? lol. For herself, or compete as a pro in a crap pro division, especially right now. It seems to be such a waste of time. I respect the pro card, but there is nowhere to go with it now.

As an amateur, it's difficult to change things. Pros have much more credibility and status. Combine that with money and you have influence. Mix in some of that "vision thing" and change can happen. That Pro card has value.....but it depends on the person holding it on how to extract that value.

The amateurs have more power than the pros...a lot more. That's why every effort is being made to keep them happy and in place.

LOL. are you being series tre???
Look at Joanna's post, how is she being made happy. I hope you're being sarcastic. I haven't seen any effort to make them happy since I started really watching it closely a few years ago. lol

Everyone that hasn't seen Robin's 6 week out pics (http://www.robinparker.us/masters/index.htm) on her site should go check them out. She looks ready already. It still amazes me every time I see pics of her that she's 50. I didn't believe it when I first heard it after Nationals last year.
Giving a pro card to the winner of the Masters this year is a great idea - seems like its turned it from a show for women whose national level careers were already over to one for women like Robin at their peak who can still hold their own at USA's or Nationals. Should be a great show!

Good call posting that link Hans. I can't wait to see Robin finally get her pro card at the Masters! It's time she gets what she deserves after all these years. I wish I could go to support her! The goal is to have 2 pro's with Team Dunbar at the USAs.... (Colette AND Robin) Only 4 more weeks, I hope everyone else is ready!!
