...to the photography discussions? Did I miss something?

Anyway, what lens do you guys use MOSTLY for everyday shooting? I am using a ProMaster 18-200mm that seems to suit my purposes well. I wish it was lower than 6.3 @200mm, but in time. I tried a Nikkor 70-300mm today. Not a bad lens.

Hey Doug thanks for resuscitating this thread. I think everyone got busy with what happened at the Europa.

Anyhow, I almost always have a 24-70 as the 'default' lens on my primary body. It's a good normal-ish focal length for most purposes and can focus fairly close as well as has a light zoom on it.

ok stupid question I have a Canon EOS Elan 2E. It's maybe 10 years old now, but the knob that controls the power and the manual/auto setting snapped off. Now it can't be turned on, but everything works fine. Anyone have any idea what that would cost to fix or if there might be an easy fix? I have the part that snaped off, but no luck with getting it back on.

Since you have a Canon... I would believe it would cost about the price of a comparable Nikon to completely fix your problem.

So which lens do I mostly use for every day shooting? I can't live without my 300mm f/2.8!! I shoot with it about 75% of the time. My second in line is an 85mm f/1.4. And for "wide angles", I use a 60mm lens, which accounts for about 5% of my shots.

I have an old pentax and a 50mm/f1.4 ***** to focus at nite with low lite, but i hate a flash. The Canon a 28/80 zoom i like it for most stuff when it worked. Now stuck with the old pentax, but you can make just about any p.o.s work with a little thought.

No prob. Those of us who didn't go want to talk cameras. LOL Interesting stuff here. It appears most of usually shoot with what we have gotten used to. The lengths of my ProMaster are what I usually worked in anyway. I love it. And I want John's 300mm 2.8. My address is......

For years I used to shoot with a 100mm F2.8 Nikkor until the thing was stolen. These days I mainly shoot with a 50mm F1.8 or a 28mm-85mm Nikkor zoom.

My walk around lens is the 24-70.

At shows I use that as well as the 70-200 IS F2.8

My new Nikon 12-24 was just delivered today. This should be an interesting change of pace from my standard 300/2.8. Perhaps I'll get to try it out with Cindy Phillips on Monday!!

My "walk around" lens is a Sigma 24-70 f/2.8. My workhorse lens is a Sigma 70-200 f/2.8 HSM. My favorite lens is my Nikkor 300 f/2.8VR, which will be for sale when my Sigma 120-300 f/2.8 OS HSM arrives.

About $4995 for a Nikon D2X.
