View Full Version : Sponsorship Available Female Bodybuilder 2007

Tim
November 8th, 2006, 11:21 PM
I would like to take this time to extend financial support to any competitor who is in need of sponsorship for the 2007 season. The offer is primarily extended to all amateur competitors, though professionals will be considered.

I understand the financial burden that this sport can bear on each individual competitor, and being a supporter of the sport I hope to alleviate any financial stress that a competitor might face. Without large marketing endorsements, or adequate prize money the athlete is all too often faced with mounting competition costs. Perhaps as a fan through sponsorship, athletes can be rewarded with the help and recognition that is so justly deserved.

The sponsorship will be for one season, and all I ask; is that the competitor does indeed compete during the 2007 season.

Anyone who may be interested may contact me at pat_givens94@yahoo.com.

Regards;

Tim

Hi Tim,

In any sponsorship proposal there's a quid-pro-quo. Why not specify what you want the FBB to do? Moreover, what's the gain for the FBB?

The reason I harp on this is there's far too many instances of "sponsors" using money in an attempt to control what the FBB does, or buying friendship. It could be someone offering to pay for the FBB's budget or boob-job, for example -- in exchange for sex. If you want to give to an FBB, you can certainly do so in any number of ways from donations via their site to or sending a check, and so on.

But this way -- at least the way you put it -- sets alarm bells off.

My recommendation is for you to be totally open about what you want. But also to be professional about it.

- What's the property you present for the FBB to sponsor?
- What's the demographic served?
- What's the benefit to the FBB in terms of increasing their media exposure?

In other words, how does her relationship with your property increase her value?

This you must answer.

My intentions are sincere, in offering financial assistance to an athlete.

I respect the sport, and enjoy attending competitions when I can. I do not intend on financing a boob job or make the payments for an athletes boyfriend's new IROC. I have followed this sport for a number of years, and find the time and determination these athletes put forth to be incredibly impressive; despite the financial burden it may cause.

I do not compete, but I respect those who do. For me this is my way of giving back to a sport that has motivated me to improve upon my own physical being and overall lifestyle.

I do not own a business, in fact I am no longer living in the States, so meeting or seeing an athlete compete next season is out of the question. My support is entirely financial to off set someone's costs in travel, training, supplements or competition suits. I have nothing for anyone to endorse, nor market.

It is unfortunate that in today's world goodwill is an uncommon virtue..or at the very least one that is scorned.

Tim, your goodwill is neither unwelcome nor scorned. In fact, people's reactions are largely conditioned by a history that has nothing to do with you. The fact of the matter is that over the years both male and female bodybuilders have had 'sponsors' whose interest was primarily sexual. Add on to this some well-known internet stalkers such as Charles Benner and Neil Strong and it's hardly surprising that people on sites such as this are instinctively protective of the female athletes here.

If you are sincere in both your sponsorship and interest in the sport, then I suggest you simply join in the life of the board. If your sponsorship offer is not taken up immediately, then as people become more familiar and comfortable with your presence here, it may well be taken up at a later date. I assume that there is no deadline or cut-off point for your sponsorship offer. One small query I would have is, if your name is Tim, why is your email address Pat Givens?

I am guessin that this isnt the same Pat Givens that won a few Super Bowl rings playing for the Patriots and now plays for the Titans.

Thanks for the reply.. to answer your question, I have been a member here for years; yet wisely stayed away from posting on the message boards.

I have used the site as a tool to keep up with contests and the direction the sport is going in. However, I have indeed posted in the past, yet I prefer to leave the phenomina of message board haggeling the good and the bad to others.

I liken it to utilizing the bulletin board kiosk in college. It is there for everyone to see and utilizied by everyone. Post your name and number for the sale of your '94 hyundai hatchback, and you are bound to recieve some unwanted replies at the very least criticism for ever driving a '94 hyundai hatchback at all. But I did sell the car...

As for my email I am practicing a bit of caution and hoping to prevent the compromise of my anonymity, which I am entitled to.

Thank you for your reply and I do respect your position of thinking of the athletes first. I will reply to all who do contact me..Ms Guns I did receive your inquiry and will reply today.

I was asked to perform muscle worshipping sessions. The original email posted by "Tim" was the exact same email I received after I competed in a national-level contest.

He stated that there would not be any touching, just my posing and his watching from a video cam (so he could be out of the States).

Anyway, to each his/her own, but I do not participate in muscle worship sessions and/or the "underground" sexual fantasy world of bodybuilding. I did not dignify his email with a response.

Furhermore, how many ladies are he planning to sponsor? Are you telling me he is not asking for anything in return? Even the supplement company want you to hand out supplements, brochure, samples, etc. at contests.

If it souund like a duck, quack like a duck, and look like a duck.....it's a duck! Be cautious ladies!

Tim

First off..no I have not requested any kind of session from anyone. This is an absolutely absurd post.

I am simply offering help to anyone who may need it..period. This is not the first nor the last time I have helped someone towards their cause.

This is getting absurd..I really am not sure what all these character assasination attempts are all about..and this is the reason why I have not posted in the past. I have actually read these boards before, and should have realised that this was something I was opening my self up to, but I tried none the less.

I simply wanted to let people know that I can help..period..

This is absolutely ridiculous..

I've heard a lot of fbbs bemoan the high cost of their passion; a cost that more often than not goes completely unrewarded and even in the case of the pros, under-rewarded. And now we have a guy that is openly offering to pick up the slack for someone and more than half of you are just shoveling grief on him. That's so unnecessary. Do you think fbbs are these naive hothouse flowers that have never dealt with an internet predator before? Do you think your cynicism is some kind of revelation? Do you think Tim is so invincibly stupid as to post this sort of request HERE of all places if there wasn't at least a scintilla of sincerity in his offer?

Tim, I for one applaud your generosity and your intentions and if I were to win the lottery anytime soon, I'd be following in your footsteps. I'm glad some of the ladies here seem to be taking you seriously enough to find out more about your offer - I know I have some friends that would jump at this chance!

I never judge anyone unless they have hurt me or showed me they cant be trusted. Tim has not done anything wrong, he has just stated that he wants to Help someone Live their Dreams. Until we know otherwise, its not fair to judge him. I have had a few people that i dont even know send me money to Help with comntest costs. Last year as a matter of fact, one guy sent 250.00 and then a lady sent me a 50.00 check! You just never know:) There are still kind hearted people in this world:) Thank God for that!

I am directing this post to the competitive bodybuilders that have responded to this thread.

Let's imagine that you purchased a winning Mega Lottery ticket which entitled you to recieve $100 million dollars AFTER taxes in a lump sum payment. You are set for life. You have more money than you know what to do with. You love bodybuilding, so obviously you are going to proceed with your own bodybuilding career foot-loose and fancy-free.

But, what if you decided you wanted to sponsor another bodybuilder, or perhaps a team of bodybuilders? Would you make a general announcement on the internet offering sponsorships to people you know nothing about? Or is it more likely that you would offer financial support to someone from your gym, someone you have competed with, or a person you otherwise know? Would you give your money to just anybody? Would your sponsorship have any conditions attached to it? Or, would it be an unconditional hand-out of money? In short, how would you run your bodybuilding sponsorship program?

Posted it here and other boards...there are a lot of FBB's who compete and who read the threads but dont post...

I would have set some aside for me...

And help some personal friends too...

I would have a deadline....in mind

Let those who are interested respond....

And go from there....

You know, Tim, lesser men would have just decided the negativity your post got meant it was not worth pursuing this.
It's good to see that has been balanced by contributions from women with a lot more sense.
It's a simple fact of life that any male who is not dating one of their fellow competitors or married or a family member or friend is somehow viewed in a suspicious light if financial offers are made of help.
I'm pretty up front with the fact I usually hope to meet the athlete and see her pose in return for support. If that makes me a bad person in some people's eyes, that's not a problem. I'm up front about it - nobody finds out too late in the day.
And just because you didn't totally explain what lies behind your motives, you get those who want to be nasty saying some unfounded crap.
I hope this works out for you because you deserve to find someone appreciative to this gesture.
For your part, bear in mind that not all female bodybuilders are nice people.
There's two sides to anything. The money-hungry ones are the exceptions, though. Most of these women are appreciative of anyone who genuinely wants to be of some assistance.
