Who would make a good female gladiator? When the show was first on they went for a certain type gladiator. Tall, muscular, well spoken and good looking facially. The original gladiators and their replacements were mainly pro or national level BBers - Raye Hollitt (Zap), Shelly Beattie (Siren), Erika Andersch (Diamond), Lori Fetrick (Ice), Tonya Knight (Gold) were the blonde, all-american types, Victoria Gay (Jazz) and Shari Pendleton (Blaze) were the beautiful black women and then there was usually one non BBer in the cast (Lace and Elecktra). I don't think they ever had anyone shorter than Raye in the cast and she is 5 foot 6 or 7. So with that group as a model and figuring 5 women total, who in today's scene would be obvious choices to replace them? I think Shawna Walker and Kris Murrell meet the criteria - any other suggestions?

One things for sure it would only help since the women athletes wouldn't necessarily have to be ripped on the show since it's more about athletics and strength. So a lot of off-season stuff there!

Hey I was a Big Fan of American Gladiators myself that besides watching the TV show in Syndication on the Weekends but I have met Raye (Zap) Hollitt when she Guest Posed at the 1994 NPC Central States (AKA The NPC Motor City, National Qualifier) at the Redford Theater on Detroit's Northwest Side.
I also have managed to catch the American Gladiators Live tour at the Joe Louis Arena Downtown along the Detroit Riverfront back in 1992 during the height of the show's popularity and Ice as well as the rest of the Women looked Beautiful live back then.
I'm 100% in favor of seeing the show making a comeback but with the Women having more of a Shredded/Striated/Ripped look than off-season. :)

It's hard to imagine anyone following the original ones, especially from about ' 91'- ' 94 (my particular time for it), and more especially Lori Fetrick (my particular idol on the show). Also, it's a toss-up between so many, though I'd say FBBs with a lot of obvious "personality" (I'm sure they all have that, but I mean the kind that would really "show through" on a TV show). I don't know what she's doing lately, but if it had been revived just a short time ago, I think a great choice would've been Joanie Laurer (it wouldn't be a real jump from wrestling to "Gladiators").

I could pick 5 American Gladiators and if you paid them enough money they would do it.
