I found the following interesting, but not in a self-promotional way as it may seem at first. Let me splain...
It's New Year's Eve here in Dublin and I've got nothing to do but count the seconds until my plane departs for home (which happens to be 391895 at this moment if you're curious). So to keep myself further occupied, I was searching the web to see who's linking to my site, as I occasionally do from time to time. One of the first links that came up was this one on the Bodybuilding.com forums (http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=573745).
The original thread post was quite flattering, I'll admit. And if I left this thread discussion here, just to say "Hey, look at this!" that would be quite self promotional -- downright snobbish in fact. But that's not the point of this topic.
I continued to read the responses that followed this guy's post, which didn't surprise me at first. It's nothing I haven't read before. But about half way down, I took a double-take to see again which site this forum was on, and indeed it was Bodybuilding.com. That struck me as very peculiar.
By the time I got to the end of the thread, I actually had to look again (no joke) to see that in fact, this was still Bodybuilding.com that was hosting this forum. And these are guys who are [presumably] fans of the sport giving these responses.
Ok, sure, this could be expected on a Maxim forum. Or maybe even a Sports Illustrated fourm. But Bodybuilding.com?
Does anyone else find these prevailing opinions more than a curiosity?
(Oh, and if you're counting, now theres only 391076 seconds left).

see women w/ muscles as NOT GOOD?
Is it a known fact ONLY men are suppose to have muscles?
and Women are suppose to be plain jane, out of shape, etc?

I don't know why that surprises you so much. I may be a figure gal but I don't find the Ronnie Coleman look nice.
Women with muscles haven't been exposed very much in the media. People don't get used to the look and it becomes "freakish". Even men that do lift probably don't see alot of women with muscles.
Women still have a long way to go in the world of bodybuilding. We may have made some big strides but there is still a way to go.
Jessica Biel and Hilary Swank looked great with muscle.....but both chose to lose it because they didn't like the look.....not because of movie roles.

Perhaps the people responding to that orginal post on bodybuilding.com were kids in the age range of 10-19 or so. Ones that don't know their butts from a whole in the ground.
I for one love the images John shoots and so be there if I ever got/get the chance to work with him. I'd be there quicker than flies on pooh!

I think some men are just plain threatened by any woman who's strong either economically, physically, intellectually, or emotionally, and God forbid if she's any high combination of all three. I personally find such women intoxicatingly attractive.
Happy New Year!

You think because people don't like the muscular look they are inmature or young???? They don't know their butt from a HOLE in the ground? Get real. That's one of the stupidest things I've ever heard. I have no idea how you could come up with that. Completely stupid. :headscrat

actually it's not all that stupid when you think about who all posts at bbing.com (and other boards)...lots of younger guys who openly comment like that...
Zennie, I totally agree...I have seen friends who are very secure and stable in areas that's traditionally seen as "men's" areas, such as bringing in the money in a household, stay single b/c guys were just simply intimidated...thank goodness they waited around for the right one who knew how to treat a lady...

Well, we seem to have a shortage of those "stupid guys" on this board. I suspect the bb.com board is just as civilized as this one. I still am surprise to see these prevalent attitudes so vocally posted on bb.com.
Off topic, gymdiva, where can I find one of those secure and stable women who bring home the money? I'd greatly appreciate some references.

Hey John, I am surprised as well being as it is bb.com. I guess I shouldn't be though. I know when I was single many friends told me I could find a guy maybe if I did not have so much muscle and I was even smaller back then. Crazy world with so many opinons we live in. I am glad most of the people on this board like our muscles. And I am glad that people like you John and Gene and James and Hans like to photograph us. Take care and Happy New Year.

Maybe YOU should go read the profiles of the majority of the posts from there. The only ones that make any sense are the people in the over 30/ladies sections.
I still stand behind what I say...perhaps its you that needs to read over there and educate yourself before blasting me on my post which is pretty correct.

Hey Everyone, just in case you didn't know Bodybuilding.com as well as getbig.com are not known to be "user friendly" towards Women Bodybuilders & Fitness Women but most of the posters over at their forums are not just big time fans of Men's Bodybuilding but they also have "figure" on the brains.
That's why most of the World's Most Beautiful Women Bodybuilders & Fitness Women come to websites FTV/Genex, DTV/HerMuscles (HerBiceps, HerLegs, Femflex, Boomerflex)IronBodybuilding.com & MuscleMayhem.com because their Fourms are supposed to be more user-friendly to the Ladies where as the other websites as well as Flexonline.com are not as user-friendly.
Nothing against the figure gals, they're Beautiful & Attractive but with the new year upon us, Women Bodybuilders (including the Hardcore & Drug-Free kind) as well as Fitness Women need Love too. They're "Gifts From God" as well as my Heroes period.
I'll take a Woman who's "Jacked & Diesel" over a "Rail-Thin" Skinny Waif & A Big Fat Obese Woman anyday. Both Women Bodybuilders & Fitness Women have Got it Going on period. :)

Doesn't surprise me at all. It is also mostly the case on the MuscleMag Forums where I have been a member for quite some time. I posted some pics for a while of muscular women a couple of years ago, I seemed to be the only one who liked them for the most part. American Curves magazine is even getting away from the figure girls, opting for more of the model look, Carmen Electra, etc.

Who cares about the profiles????? That makes no diff.....some are bull**** and some are out of date.
As for your post being correct.......it's not right or wrong. It's your opinion thinking they don't know their butts from a hole in the ground. Besides, who cares what age they are.....it's still their opinion. I know lots of 30-50 year olds that don't like muscular women. They aren't stupid because of it.

well you're right, it is her opinion...just like it your opinion that her's is stupid...neither are right, neither are wrong...but this exchange of words is plenty...really the point I think John was trying to make with this thread was that he expected more from a bbing forum...and so would I...but I'm still not surprised...

Yes, I agree! If they are true fans of the sport they would def be supporting the women!

THAT was John's point. If it is a bodybuilding board, which it is, ALL bodybuilders should be supported. Some guys think it is only for men, though. They are living in the dark ages.
Nikki has a HOT website! :)

Ladies are just Better at bodybuilding plain and simple!
Its always really been meant for them anyway.
I think muscle even looks better them as young girls as well.
I notice people get more excited to see a girl next door raise up her
arms flex an impressive untrained muscle more so than a little boy.
But just like with all other sports, men have to be the ones
to always get things started or be the first to participate in it.
Maybe with exception of figure skating and gymnastics.
Hmm . . not too sure on that one though.:o
