I just got back to work today after an ice storm Sunday night in NH. We had no power, phone, cable, TV, internet, etc. yesterday morning!!

The car had an inch of ice on it and took an hour to defrost just to the point where we could wrench the doors open.

We got power back yesterday afternoon, internet and cable late last night, and we haven't had phone since Sat. :fitz:

Ice storms are worse than snow!!

haven't been through a bad one since 2002...that one came through and totally blanketed the triangle area in ice...I had no power for five days and had to crash on the floor of my friends' dorm room...oh and it happened in the middle of exams...talk about fun...

yeah i remember that one, i was livin in Cary.... what was really screwed up was most of the area was without power like u said 5 +days except for this little community where several rich IBM and other big Triangle company typhoons lived, they had there power restrored after about an hour of blacking out.....funny how that works!

I live about an hour outside of Springfield and we got lucky! Springfield is still mostly down from last weekend's storm. Another member here lives in Springfield hope he's O.K.!
Coming from Cali, I'm used to earthquakes and fires!
peace and be safe all!

I experienced an ice storm back in 2000. I survived by having a flashlite with batteries, a propane heater with canisters and emergency food rations as well as extra wool blankets. That is some of what you need to survive.

Terrible memories of the dreaded Ice Storms. Originally from Eastern Long Island and don't miss it here in lovely So. Cal.

Went to school in Des Moines, IA and used to leave my car at the airport. One time I returned and it took me and hour to chip off 2" of ice from my windshield!

Palm trees are where it is at for me now!
