Well I know Cb started the football thread, but since the big game is over all eyes are turning toward the boys of summer. That's right baseball is close at hand. Anybody got any predictions? Other than the obvious: RED SOX RULE IN 2007!!!

Born and raised in NYC, so I love my Yankees. Spent 24 years in Miami, so I also like the Marlins. Total opposites when it comes to spending money on player salaries:woot: .

White Sox are my team all the way to get back into the series!! To Caljoe's point, the lack of a salary cap and the disparity of players salaries make it hard for me to like the Yankees. They are always successful so my hats off to them on that, but it seems the deck is a little stacked when they can pick up any free agent out there.

I can understand why you feel that way, but when you're 7 years old and the first game your dad takes you to see is a double-header in the old Yankee stadium, and you get to see Mickey Mantle, it pretty much makes you a Yankee fan forever.

You are so right. The Yankees have the most storied tradition in all of sports, built by the likes of Mantle, Maris, Dimaggio, etc. You can't take that away from them. I just think baseball should consider a salary cap to allow smaller market teams to compete.

Nah Scott, I don't think we'll be seeing the Braves in the playoffs this season. The Mets will be too strong for them, and I don't see them winning the wildcard either. The Braves still have not learned that all the pitching in the world is great, but you need bats to score. However we shall see

Time Warner has sold the Braves thank goodness those idiots were trying to turn the team into Pittsburgh South. Hopefully Liberty will help keep players like Andruw instead of lettin him just walk away :) I am just glad i live in an area where subscribing ti TW isnt an option!!!

It would be nice to see an owner come in here and make some changes, and get some players who will fill the stands. I really was hoping that Aurthur Blank bought the Braves, that way you would be sure he would get some marque players in here.

As for Andruw. . . he'll be a Red Sox by the trade deadline.

They definately need to get some marque names back b/c if Andruw goes ...who left on the team that really excites people. Sure the girls all like Chipper and Franceuer but who is there for the guys to see!

I like the Red Sox as well, but I felt really good about last year too. But I'm calling it now, the big surprise will the Cubs. The addition of Pinella as well as some possibly good pitching with Prior and Wood (if they work out a deal with the DL to get them back), Zambrano, and Lily. Also Soriano was a great pick up.

Anybody here in a fantasy baseball league? I wanted to start a league that had 12 teams, 6 guys and 6 gals, but I can't seem to find anyone here to join (ladies that is) so I ended up forming a league with 12 guys. Oh well.
