Hey amanda, i think that you are all that! i have visited your site a few times and i am really feeling your physique -- clean lines, great muscles, with a nice belnd of femininity. You really do look outstanding. Additionally, i enjoy the fact that you reveal more about yourself than just being in the gym and what you eat. Too many bodybuilding personalities' Web sites are sterile in that respect. i wish you all the best in your competitive, personal and, professional endeavors. One.

Michelle is to bodybuilding what Karl Malone is to the NBA where as Karl is one of the best to have never won a championship ring, Michelle is one of the best to have never won a pro card.

Hi HFS, LOL, Well I'm one of the old school gals(pre-internet fame) My name was Michelle Ivers, just got married so now I will be going by Michelle Brent. I have competed with best of the best when they were amateurs ,Sharon Bruneau, Kim C herself, Heather Foster, Lora Ottenad, Robin Parker and with the current slew, Colette N, Elena Seiple, Heather Lee...... Anyway with the internet now, the girls are more out there.
I've always been in the top 5, and that pic was when I should of turned pro, but missed the class by 2 lbs and Kim Harris won the middles. Anyway, that's who I am!! LOL  ;)

Michelle - what was it like competing against Kim C? I don't think I have seen any fbber since her as incredible as she was at the 1999 Ms Olympia, her last show. I never saw her in person as an amateur though.

She was a heavy, I was amiddle, but just to be back stage, I knew she was going to win. She had a good amount of muscle then, but Chad took her off the hook after!!
She a very nice person, down to earth.

Thank you so much for this message!! :) I just want to keep it REAL... what I show you on my site is absolutely 100% ME. Any of my friends on here will tell you that. My journal really does reflect so much of what i'm about and I'm so glad I can share it with people. My mistakes/learning experiences can always help someone else and hopefully they'll learn from some of the dumb things I've done! haha.
Thanks again for the motivational post, it really does mean a lot. Especially while in Pre-contest mode!

Michelle,
Girl........ look at that bicep vein!!! I want it! Hey just curious... were you always veiny growing up? For your first show was your bicep vein that thick, or did that get thicker/more pronouned w/ time? I'm curious because my veins are skinny little baby things! I want a few thicker, more pronounced veins come contest time!!

Amanda, yes, I've always had viens, but they did get thicker asd the muscle became more bogger and more mature, since there is more musle more blood needs to circulate in and out, Im sure you know this part. But also, the leaner, the more pronounced they should be. It's so funny, cause as fbber's I don't think the judges care so much about the veins, they do love to see tight glutes, and some showw that's where I've had the problem. Michelle

Michelle, have you made a lot of appearances in magazines like Flex and Womens Physique World?

Yes, I've been a regular with WPW, look at their site, I'm under Michelle Ivers.
They are like family to me know. Im trying to set up a shoot with Nancy(first pic) and me together. I'm not competing this yr, but try to stay in somewhat in contest shape.
Flex are hit and miss pics. when they had flexnfeme, Sometimes inIronman, mostly in the hotshot section. I am one of the "old school" gals. via Robin Parker...... The new crop of girls are awesome though, and love to see it still surviving at least in the amateur ranks!!
Have not done anything with James yet hint, hint, but have known Gene since he started photographing us gals.

Michelle... the "old school" girls are what brought the "new crop" into the sport. I started out loving the extreme physiques.... people like you, kim, Robin... that is REAL bodybuilding. When prepping I'm always looking at women like that, who have gotten to the striated glute level, or the veins I was talking about earlier that you have in your arms. I can't wait to get that level of muscle maturity. I've got some time before I'll get to that point. I'll be 25 this month and can't even picture what my physique will look like in 5-10 years. Just the changes I've had in the last 4 years was not even imaginable to me. I can't imagine how it must feel to look back at old (PRE-bodybuilding or during) pics in your case. You must be SO PROUD of your transformation! It is really motivational to see....

Great post Amanda. I agree. The "old school" fbbers are the ones who laid the foundations for the new "crop". The up and coming fbbers competing now who are in their early twenties (Amanda, Kristy Hawkins, Isabelle Turell, Kim Kilper etc) don't feel the need to justify getting big. And that's because old school women like Michelle and Robin made it OK to be a hardcore female bodybuilder and inspired girls like Amanda growing up in the 80s and 90s.

Hi, Michelle, well I am sure I know who you are now. I've seen you in all of those appearances especially way back in the Eighties. You see I only got on the internet in 2002, but until then, Flex Magazine and Women's Physique World were my 'encyclopedias.' I am sorry you never made pro because I know you were knocking on the door pretty hard many more times than once so to speak. Nonetheless just for your knowledge alone, I can't express how fortunate we in the online bodybuilding community could benefit from when you offer your opinions, suggestions and impressions. You are a worthy subject of an all out appreciation thread, but just let me say I appreciate all of the years you stuck with the sport and never giving up and if your decision now is that the time is right in your life to retire from competition, so be it, but by all means reminisce, continue to post messages for us to read and keep training for your personal fitness and health. Thanks for all you've done for women's bodybuilding, Michelle. I am sure you can inspire the new pack of FBB's who may close ranks and demand more money when they turn pro. Amanda, you keep on and you'll be great. We are all behind you.

I agree...Amanda's progress has multiplied ten-fold this year! Major changes that will only work to her benefit. I know she doesn't care about winning or losing, she just wants to bring her personal best to the stage each time. I am a bit more competitive than that and have tried to instill the "eye of the tiger" in her as she goes for that trophy this year. Amanda is a girl of many words (and intelectual ones at that!), but I believe her physique will do the talking this year in Vegas. I got yo back sista!

The amazing thing about Amanda is that the more progress she makes the hotter she gets! Well at least to me she does. Actually the same goes for Gina Davis and Colette Nelson. In fact, now whenever I hear the name Gina Davis I think of Gina the awesome bodybuilder from Texas and not Gina Davis the actress!

If only there had been a light-heavyweight class then...
In truth, you were much better than 6th at that show, but there was major confusion on competitor numbers at the judges' table.

Great words Amanda, keep going in the direction you are going now, transforming yourself to perfection (extreme physique) and you will reach the pinnacle. You will be THE example to the next crop of girls with the PROPER look of a REAL bodybuilder.
You are motivated by the right things, with the passion for bodybuilding you have now you are an example to other Female Bodybuilders today.
GOOD LUCK AT THE NY GIRL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
