I get in to Philly first to hook up with my husband, Bill, then I think we are going to be up there Fri afternoon. We should all do dinner, Fri, plus I want a sneak preview of Colette. We always stay at the Marriott, contest or not since Bill uses this same location for business. I'm doing a mini diet, to look good hangng out, plus want to to some photos. I'm sure there is going to be alot of photo-ops!!! :p

ok very cool. Let me know what your for sure plans are. I'll shoot you my number later. I'll be dieting for the USA, so not sure about eating out Friday... but maybe Saturday post show celebration. he he. I'm sure Colette will give you the sneak peak. It's going to be a lot of fun. I am still wondering if Gene is going to go...? I'm also looking to do lots of photos there. Elena Seiple and I will hopefully do some on Thursday if she can get into the city... then whatever else pans out. Who knows? :)
Definitely keep me posted!

Hey everyone, great to be here. My thanks to Amanda for telling me about it.
Being the blessed one who's taken Colette's photo's, I can tell you she's going to be off the hook!!! Every week she's getting better and better. This past month she has been getting out of this world!!! I can't be more proud of her or say enough about how well she's doing on her prep.
She's simply the best...!!!! There's only one Colette Nelson.... imho
Hope to see you all here in NY.....

It should be really interesting to see how they judge this show... will they change the standards and do what they are saying with this 20% rule? They will have such a variety of people in the HW CLASS... Look at the difference here. Paula Suzuki against Colette. TOTALLY DIFFERENT PHYSIQUES, both amazing in their own ways... I think this show will DEFINE what direction they want to take with female bodybuilding.
All I know is, I speak with Colette everyday.... she is working HARDER than she EVER has at prepping for a show. It is obviously paying off. I hope the other women really put together a killer night show routine because hers will be VERY hard to compete against. lol. woohoooooo YOU GO GIRL!

Elena - I'm interested to see Cindy compete as a pro too. It's also going to be interesting cos she'll be the first winner of the lhw class at Nationals or the USA to compete as a pro. With the cut-off at 135 in the pros, I guess she could go either way, lw or hw...

With a field of 33, I would like to see at least 3 weight classes, but I'm not running the IFBB.
Yes, I saw the comments that Nancy won't actually be competing, but another top pro FBB who is not on the list told me yesterday she will definitely be on stage.

VERY sorry to hear about Lisa :( :( :( - she's becoming a special favorite of mine, she continues to improve her awesome physique from a very high level, while staying totally beautiful. Someone posted elsewhere that she's hoping to compete later this year, so hopefully it's not too serious.
Her site is http://www.lisaaukland.com/
BTW Tre - if you have a reasonably accurate current list, please update the rest of us.

Oops - looks like an ambiguous pronoun reference. When I said "she" I meant the OTHER top FBB pro. Since she has been ID'd by BA on FTV, I can confirm that I meant Heather Foster, who was looking MAGNIFICENT last week. :o :o :o

Mark, unfortunately, I haven't seen the latest list either, but haven't heard of any additions - all we were told was that there were initially 6 entries and then 6 more turned in contracts. We just now learned of Lisa's withdrawal (and we're all rooting for her to get well soon), but I don't think any latecomers have since thrown their hats into the ring.
One thing needed most, in my opinion, is individual sponsorship to help some of the European and S. American (and even Australian, Asian or African) women get to the U.S. to compete in these pro events. Assuming airfare of $800, plus lodging and food, $1200-1500 per competitor would go a long way towards getting some of them onstage here. No, that wouldn't completely cover all the travel costs, but any amount that could be deferred would certainly help, would it not?
That's my take and if someone would like to take the lead in organizing this effort, I'm more than willing to contribute.

There was a list of FBBs w/contracts on BA's board about a month ago, it was less than 12 - do you know who the 2d group of 6 is, or do you know who knows?

Tre, and that is why we don't see very many in the lineups. For the most part the women put out the money it takes to get ready and no return!! Even the American women have to pay travel expenses...

It would be Great to see more ladies from other countries(outside US and Canada) competing here!! I know it's expensive for the ladies here in the states. I can't imagine how much more expensive it is for the ladies trying to come here to compete!
I chipped in with donations to 2 ladies last yr and 2 ladies this yr from overseas. But, i'm sure it barely put a dent into the total of their expenses for the shows! And YES, every little bit does help!
But how many other fans understand or realize how expensive it is for these ladies to prepare and get to each show? If a lady(outside the US)doesn't have her own website, how can she be contacted or be helped? If she does have her own site but, no "paypal" would she be willing to give her mailing address or even bank info, if needed?
Nicole
May 10th, 2005, 08:16 AM
You are right. Every little bit DOES help. That was really generous of you to send some of your hard earned dough overseas for those ladies. If we can get more competitors over this way, that means more butts in the seats and increased ticket sales can only have a positive effect on our numbers...in other words, more exposure, more money in our pockets as competitors and keeping our dying sport alive!

My senses say that Colette may be the favorite to win this show she is far a very dynamic poser in very much the tradition of a DIana Dennis and very charismatic onstage of course she looks great onstage .

It seems I actually have 11 names, (some are 2d or 3rd -hand):
LW/MW
Carmella (Cureton) Key
Cindy Gonzalez
Fannie Barrios
Gayle Moher
Jeannie Paparone
Rosemary Cheeseman Jennings
Susan Facini
HW
Annie Rivieccio*
Colette Nelson
Heather Foster*
Sarah Dunlap
* means the women told me directly, within the last couple of weeks, that they are competing.

People who looked earlier at Gene's quick listing of the results should note that an error has now been corrected: only the two class winners, Rosemary Jennings and Annie Rivieccio get Olympia invitations. People whon missed the NY show will have another opportunity to see Heather Foster's routine, one of the best ever, this fall, probably at the Pariso show in September.
