JT Littrell R.I.P-Hoax or Legit??

Like most of you I'm not much of a fan of hoax e-mails. Every time my mom sends me one, I have to bite my tongue and politely tell her that she's (once again) been had, and that she shouldn't send these on without researching to see if its legit or not. I received what looked like another one on my MySpace e-mail from "Penny" (who has no friends in her list and no avatar) which positively REEKS of being a hoax. However, rather than just delete it, in the interest of research for the purpose of breaking yet another chain hoax letter, I decided I would throw it out here on the off-chance that it might be legitimate, since more than likely many of JT's colleagues in physique photography as well as his clients frequent this board. And if it is a hoax (and JT happens to be alive and well and reading this), at least you'll all get a good laugh out of it!! :) Here is what I received:

JEREMY, I DONT KNOW YOU BUT NO-ONE IN YOUR WORLD SEEMS TO KNOW ABOUT JT. MY BEST FRIEND,MY SCI-FI BUDDY, MY LITTLE BROTHER,PAST AWAY SEPT 11TH AT 8:32 AM WHILE I WAS HOLDING HE HAND. AFTER A LONG,LONG BATTLE WITH CANCER I LOST HIM. NOT ONE OF HIS SO-CALLED FRIENDS IN THE BODY BUILDING WORLD WHO KNEW ABOUT HIM CAME TO SEE HIM IN HIS LAST DAYS. THERE WERE A FEW WHO KEPT TELLING HIM OVER AND OVER THAT THEY WERE COMING WEEK AFTER WEEK. WELL HE DIED BROKEN HEARTED, STILL WAITING. I SOUND BITTER, BECAUSE I AM. I DONT EVEN KNOW THESE PEOPLE BUT I WILL NEVER FORGIVE THEM. HE CRIED!!! IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO SEND ME AN E-MAIL, IM FINE WITH TALKING TO YOU SINCE YOU WROTE IN A BLOG ABOUT HIS PHOTOGRAPHY. As I said, it smacks of a hoax at first glance to me, but I did seem to remember reading somewhere that JT was battling cancer. You tell me, folks: legit or hoax?? :headscrat

I asked one of the women that he designed a web site for and they hadn't heard from him and said they thought he passed. I unfortunately do not have his number. His myspace page hasn't been logged into since Sept.

Not yet: I figured it would be better if I first asked those here who know JT as to whether or not they could confirm his passing. With something like this, I just want to be sure that it's on the up-and-up before I post something like a bulletin on my MySpace page, you know?? He is in my friends list, and I e-mailed his page about this, but from what I see in his comments section, no one has heard from him in a while. Couple that with what you're telling me.......NOT a good sign. :( Does he in fact have a sister named Penny??

I didn't know him that well and not sure if he had a sister or not. I have asked two more people whose sites he worked on and they said it was true. I can't believe no one brought it up or posted it. It sadly is looking like this is not a rumor but in fact true.

Same here. I still hope and pray it's just a hoax, but if it's not, why did the people who knew about this apparently see fit to NOT inform the world of female muscle, competitors and fans alike, of his passing?? I haven't seen ANYTHING about this on ANY of the boards I subscribe to, and from what I can tell there have been NO bulletins on MySpace mentioning this. Everyone in his list thinks he's still alive, for God's sake!!! Furthermore, all the people he's worked with, all the ladies he's helped with his photography............NONE of them, who KNEW that he was dying, were at this man's side when he passed on??? If that's true, then THAT'S flat-out WRONG, and this lady (if she's legit) has every right to be bitter and upset. :mad:

Pardon my ignorance here, but could you provide more intel as to who Jeremy Littrell is. Some of his work and a picture. If it is true that he has passed then my condolences go to his family.

I found out about his battle with cancer in early July, at which time I wrote to and last corresponded with him. Let's hope there is no correlation between his last login to MySpace on Sept 12th and the reports on this thread.

JT was batting cancer for awhile now. The last time I spoke with him in person was at the Europa 2006. We corresponded via email on a few things since then but nothing in the past couple of months. Anyone who met him in person knew he was a kind man who enjoyed working with the fitness women.

I've tried emailing the sender of that message to see if I could sort some things out. I'm a friend of JT's. He was put into hospice in June for his ongoing battle with cancer. As you know, hospice is typically an end-of-life situation. The last time I heard from him was at the end of July, when he sent me an email. Since then, I've tried emailing, calling (his number is "not accepting phone calls at this time"), texting, EVERYTHING, and I have been unable to get ahold of him. I can understand why his sister is upset, but how on earth were we supposed to be there for him if he couldn't be reached? His best friend is Amanda Savell, who I've emailed numerous times. Amanda's sister Brandy told me she'd keep me informed, but then deleted her profile on myspace and was unreachable. Nobody would tell me anything, and then I find this. It's absolutely heartbreaking.

I had no idea about any of this. I had been asking several people over the last few months of his whereabouts. Especially since I didnt see him at the Emerald Cup. No one seemed to know

I have bad news. I just e-mailed Amanda Jo recently about this same letter that I received, and she confirmed my fears. According to her, JT Littrell did indeed pass away in September after a long bout with cancer. This is a sad day for fans and competitors alike, and my hearfelt condolences go out to his close friends and his family in their time of grief and loss. R.I.P, JT Littrell, and thank you for all that you have given us with your artistic gifts: we'll miss you. :(

Sorry to hear aout this man. But the original e-mail sure sounds like a hoax to me. It's written in that same 'broken english' I've gotten in definate hoaxes. There's a way to prove it if you're interested.... Write back as if it's legit. Be sympathetic, and polite. And see how long before they ask you for money.
