I read this today:
SALT LAKE CITY (April 14) - A federal judge Thursday struck down the FDA ban on supplements containing ephedra, the once-popular weight-loss aid that was yanked from the market after it was linked to dozens of deaths.
The judge ruled in favor of a Utah supplement company that challenged the Food and Drug Administration's ban. Nutraceutical claimed that ephedra "has been safely consumed" for hundreds of years, and that ephedra was wrongly being regulated by the FDA as a drug and not a food. :D :D
Balance of the article can be read at:

I wonder if ephedra will actually be available again. I certainly hope so.

It seems that supplement companies are theoretically able to bring ephedra back to the shelves right now if the label 'recomends' serving sizes/dosages of less than 10mg. However, I doubt the FDA will give up their quest to 'protect' us from ephedra anytime soon.
Even though the FDA cannot prevent supplement companies from selling 10mg per 'recomended' serving ephedra right now, the logistics of bringing the product to market again will take a little time. Your guess is as good as mine as I'm not in the supplement industry. Two months? Less??

Wow..... gotta love that. Good find TIN NUTS!
Interesting thing, down here in Florida you can still find ephedrine in the Walmart Gas stations... I guess there is some rule that wholesale companies can distribute it (walmart is affiliated with Sams Club) so I'm guessing that is how they are allowed to carry it?? But only at the gas station part, not INSIDE the actual walmart STORE.

That stuff scares me for people who don't know what they are doing. I had a kid at my gym who switched brands of ephedra and he came to me and said that his body was going insane. I checked his pulse and it was like a freight train. After my shift I went back to his place and he showed me both bottles, the old stuff and the new. The new bottle said it had half the mg of the old, but he didn't realize that they were based on different serving sizes. He actually was injesting double what he took in the old bottle. I was shocked. He was taking enough to jump start a heart attack. I told him to get off the stuff totally and I stayed with him till he gt his vitals back to baseline.
I am more for natural ways to get in shape, I don't even eat anything caffine. Either way, he may have died if he kept on the stuff that heavy. He told me it was a good thing I stopped him when he did, because he wouldn't have stopped. I can understand using it properly, but it is scary when a drug can excellerate your heart rate is used by someone who doesn't know about the dangers to your cardiac system. Thats just my take on it. :)

I'll be glad when they bring it back, although *true* you must know what you are doing. Take too much Ephedra and you'll be getting the shakes!

I always worked well with ephedra and I'd love to see it come back on the market but I wish people would educate themselves more about it so that a situation like what happened to Bechler doesn't happen again...

I have read that this ruling only applies to the company in question. Now as to whether or not this is true in a legal sense I do not know.
