I keep forgetting that Gene has better stuff to do with his time.
Are Amanda and I the only groupies left??

tre... maybe you are one of my "cronies" lol.... i've been told that everyone is in INCREDIBLE SHAPE. Iris is crazy shredded, more than usual. Betty V is IN SHAPE (which could cause a bit of a stir because she has an amazing physique/shape... and Jitka is in even better condition than she was at the Charlotte Pro. I can't wait to hear the rest in a few hours.
Being only one weight class, they will be forced to judge conditioning BUT will have to judge shape now too. ha ha. I love it. This will show an interesting direction in fbbing.

Good scoop Amanda! If Betty Viana is dialled in, it could be very interesting - I can't wait to see pics!

i couldnt make it to vegas in time for the 1pm press conference. (it's a 4 hour drive from Los Angeles and I was up late doing the members updates)
I am going to the athletes meeting tonight and will get any info that's available..

lol @ Amanda - thanks for the scoop!
Sounds good, James. I think I'm going to sit this one out. My flight left 10 minutes ago and I just can't seem to get motivated to leave the house. It's 55 miles to Burbank, which translates to about a 2-hour drive at this time of day.
You guys have fun.

Way cool!
Q: Other than the M&M store, where could I take my kid? My little one is 3.
I re-ticketed myself for the morning and have tix to Cirque du Soleil, so maybe I'll come after all. (still not doing any more shooting until Nationals, though)
Give my best to the family!

ok, well i just got back from the "Meet the Olympians" and asked a few folks. Not a word was mentioned about anything regarding the current state of womens bodybuilding. Maybe some issues will be raised at the athletes meeting, but that is a closed door event. I will ask Betty Parso if i see her.
I am starting another thread, but here is a quick gallery of some of the candids I grabbed tonight:

Thanks for the Meet the Olympians gallery James. Betty looks hard, best I've seen her. I just hope the judges don't hold it against her. Then again Brenda loks good too.
Kind of interesting that they had everyone in matching warm up suits at the conference (thanks Danitza). Party unity? Did they give them to the competitors or make them pay for them? Cynical ain't I? ;)
I don't think you'll hear any big changes until they assess the turnout and audiences at the Expo Ms O and the ticket sales to that 'other' event.

My vote goes to Yaxeni. I wish upon wishes that my friend Bonny could win, but you all know how the "senority" thing goes. Yaxeni has it all...shape, hardness, feminity, and my favorite- SIZE! She proves that you can be a big girl and still be a great representative of fbbing. If Iris wins again, I will eat my shoe...and I wear a size 9! lol! Good luck ladies!

I always liked Yaxeni. I've enjoyed her Ms. International successes. Maybe it's her time for the Olympia!!

I was also very impressed with Bonnie Priest's year to year evolution as a female bodybuilder that is contending for an Olympia. I think if she's the best on the stage today-The show is hers.

When it comes to over all excellence I believe no one can compete with Iris Kyle :) :) :)

I also hope this is the year of Yaxeni and she ha seniority and she is the bomb and her physique is a terrific piece of art work of the heavens . No disrespect to Iris but Yaxeni hsould be her year she is probablya better BB than Iris and she is also very creative and soulful onstage but lets not count out Jitka , she looks great after being away being a mom for several years.

This is going to be close. All the physiques were great and the callouts were all over the place, except for one thing - they didn't want certain physiques compared to certain other physiques.
Oh no, wait - Sandy Ranalli was head judge...
I did learn one important thing, though, from Kenny Kassel, who was serving as emcee. He clearly stated that the 1st round of the prejudging was the "symmetry" round and that the 2nd round was the "muscularity" round.
