Well it's back by popular demand!!!!! Football Season is here and it definitely goes hand in hand with bodybuilding!!

I'm ready for the new season and if anyone wants to give a shoutout to root for their favorite team whether its in the National Football League (NFL), Canadian Football League (CFL)& The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) to get you motivated for the new season.

I know that in the last couple of years that I've attended the North Americans in Cleveland, is that right after the end of the contest, folks were ready and motivated to check out Football on the High-Def TV screens in the Hotel Bar/Restaurant at the Cleveland Renaissance Hotel which was Great!!!!

So in the Meantime Party People just Remember that Football (Just Like Bodybuilding) is not just an American or a Canadian thang, but a North American thang period.

Oh and for you Brett Farve Fans, it's official He's a Minnesota Viking for the Time being. Can't wait to see the Packer fans squirm in their seats, LOL.

Now as for Me I'm looking forward to seeing My Detroit Lions to have a Much Improved Season over last year. No More 0-16 regular season, Gotta root for the Hometeam.

New stadiums to look out for: I remember last year James gave a good link to the site of the proposed stadium in the Greater Los Angeles area that would put the LA Coliseum to shame. Sweet illustration & graphics. But the one to watch is the new Dallas Cowboys Stadium in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area of Texas. Gotta Love Stadiums with retractable roofs but give me the Arizona Cardinals, Houston Texans, Toronto Skydome & Indianaopolis Colts Stadiums Anytime.

Here's the rundown:
Detroit Lions Beat Atlanta Falcons: WHOOHOO!!!!
Green Bay Packers Beat Cleveland Browns: NO JUSTICE, NO PEACE!!!!
New York Jets Beat St. Louis Rams
Miami Dolphins Beat Jacksonville Jaguars
NFL Pro Football Hall Of Fame Game/Canton, OH
Tennessee Titans (FKA Houston Oilers) Beat Buffalo Bills (Like the Throwback Uniforms from the old American Football League "AFL" days)
San Francisco 49ers Beat Denver Broncos

Anymore info just go & check out www.nfl.com its a Great Site Party People!!!!

The new England Patriots come from behind in the last minutes of the game to score 2 touchdowns and beat the Buffalo Bills 25-24 in a wild and crazy game.

Another action packed last few minutes for the Chargers-Raiders game. The lightning Bolts win it 24-20. Both Monday night games picked up the action in the last few minutes providing everyone with drama and thrilling football. The New England Patriots and the San Diego Chargers both kept their string of 12 straight victories over division opponents Buffalo Bills and Oakland Raiders dating to the 2003 season. Interesting coincidence.

Washington Redskins vs Detroit Lions: Sorry Ibarra but NO JUSTICE NO PEACE, I don't want them to play my Hometeam but Lions win this one.:)

New York Giants vs Tampa Bay Buccanneers: No Contest the G-Men win this one.
San Francisco 49ers vs Minnesota Vikings: No Contest Vikings Rule this one.
Jacksonville Jaguars vs Houston Texans: Texans win this one.
Chicago Bears vs Seattle Seahawks: The Seahawks with Hasselback, plus a strong Bears Defense, Bears win this one.:)
New Orleans Saints vs Buffalo Bills: Tripper will agree with me, Saints win this one.
Pittsburgh Steelers vs Cincinnatti Bengals: The Bengals will have a chip on their shoulder and will win this one. More Power to Palmer & Ochocinco.:)
Miami Dolphins vs San Diego Chargers: It's a Draw hands down
Denver Broncos vs Oakland Raiders: could go either way but give the edge to the Broncos.
Indianapolis Colts vs Arizona Cardinals: just like the last one, it could go either way, Nuff said on NBC's Sunday Night Football
Carolina Panthers vs Dallas Cowboys: Another night in the Big D, but give the edge to the Panthers to win this one on ESPN's Monday Night Football.

Now unfortunately the Detroit Lions/Washington Redskins game will be blacked out locally here in Detroit due to the last 2 losses as well as the game did not sell enough tickets for the game to be shown locally on TV.

Everyone else will get to check it out on either on Fox or NFL Redzone from NFL Network.

Well alright Party People enjoy the Olympia Weekend as well as any College Football, Canadian Football League or any National Football League Games this weekend.

WE have no choice but to crush the Detroit Lions. Cannot afford to go 1-2.
Good thing for the people in the dc area, we get to see the game. Even if it was a home game, we would never have a blackout as we have been sold out since the 60's. There may be times the stadium is not filled to capacity but we have a waiting list for the next 40 years.

2 weeks does not a season make but some things seem pretty clear:

If the Saints stay healthy they will be tough to beat. They just laid 48 points on a good Eagles defense. Needless to say, the whole town is jacked.

The mighty in the AFC have fallen....the Steelers have no running game and are lucky to be 1-1. Tom Brady looks hesitant and the Pats are also lucky to be 1-1. The Titans..what is up with that? The Colts are 2-0 but got owned by the Dolphins, what a disappointing loss for the Fins. The Chargers barely beat the Raiders and are lucky to be 1-1.

The Ravens and Jets are looking to fill the void. The surprise team may be the Broncos but they have a tough schedule ahead so we'll see.

The NFC is wide open as well. The 49ers are back, the Falcons may surprise, and Ibarra's Skins have a good chance to take down the bumbling Eagles and Boys if they get their act together. The Pack was supposed to be back, but the Bears should have beat them and they are lucky to be 1-1. Panthers and Cards look awful, only the Giants are playing up to their billing.

Just remember, it's still early in the season and that's why they play the game. Enjoy the games Sunday, good luck to cb and Ibarra (I won't take sides in this one).

I'm just sick to my stomach at this loss. We had 0 rushing yards in the first half. Cannnot convert on a 4th and 1 on the 1 yard line.... We allow the Lions to march 99 yards for a touchdown. We allow a 95 yard drive for another. Detroit converted 75% of their third down conversions. Our second half effort was not enough. We need to look in the mirror and re examine our commitment and will to win as a football team. We were on edge all week and we played NOT to lose the game to the Detroit Lions. We need to play to win the game. That Detroit team was a good football team and they have 35 new people on their team but that loss was just totally unacceptable. We got killed in the time of possession which was 36:48 to 23:12. We need to call better plays and we need to execute the plays better.

We will not panic and put this dissapointing loss out of our minds after grading the players tomorrow. This is still early in the season and we are 1-2. We will concentrate on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for the upcoming game next Sunday at home.

The 1976-77 Tampa Bay Buccanneers (The Creamsicle Uniforms, Pre Tony Dungy/Jon Gruden era) has still the worst record 26 straight losses in the NFL. I've told several Family Members as well as some Friends of the Good news since I was able to catch it on The NFL Network's sister channel NFL Red Zone (Ch 155 Dish Network) uninterrupted which was Cool!!

I'm looking forward to seeing some improvement over the next couple of years because Coach Jim Schwartz has a rough road ahead of Him in Rebuilding & Improving the team. But the Lions win has helped build up the morale of the Metro Detroit/Southeastern Michigan region, plus it was Cool that right after The Team had Prayer that Coach Schwartz allowed the players to go and celebrate their 1st win with the fans down at Ford Field.

I'm also Happy for the Minnesota Vikings win over the San Francisco 49ers along with the Cincinnatti Bengals win over the Pittsburgh Steelers as well as wins by the New York Giants, New York Jets, and the Baltimore Ravens, oh how sweet it is. :dj_spnnin :)

The season is not over yet and we will prevail if we do the things we should be doing. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are a dangeropus and hungry team looking for their first win. Rumors persist about our head coach about to lose his job. Everyone panics nowadays in today's NFL. We will stay the course in our march towards the playoffs.

That's true but for right now the teams that are the Top Dogs right now in the National Football League with a 3-0 records at the end of Week 3 are the Baltimore Ravens
New York Giants
New York Jets
Minnesota Vikings
Indianapolis Colts
Denver Broncos
Philadelphia Eagles
New Orleans Saints

But I won't underestimate teams Like the Bengals, Falcons, Chargers, 49ers, Bears or the Patriots because IMO they have a Good Shot at making the playoffs.

Oh just a little FYI CBS will be showcasing the Super Bowl XLIV (44) from South Florida in February. Now for our Canadian Posters out there if anyone knows of any CFL scores, than please feel free to jump in because you guys are a part of the team as well and voice your opinions.

Oh yeah one of the Local Pizzerias here in Motown, Shield's Pizza had a promotion the other day on 09-29-09 if the Lions won a Game then there will be Square Deep Dish Pizza's served with whatever toppings you Like served to you for Free (Dine in Only) between 5-8 PM EST US at anyone of their restaurants.

I've gone and checked it out and Man Oh Man, the Food Was Excellent. If you're in the Metro Detroit area, Go and check it out sometime. :)

The results from the Monday Night Football Game on ESPN in which the NFL began the Kickoff Celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month from Landshark Stadium in Miami, FL is the Miami Dolphins with a come from behind score in the last couple of minutes of the 4th quarter with Defeating the New York Jets: 31-27.

It was a Good Game plus both Hank Williams Jr. & Gloria Estafan (from the Miami Sound Machine) has sung a Bilingual version of the "Are You Ready For Some Football" Opening Theme Song which was Cool. Mark Anthony sang the National Anthem and the Lead Referee had made the calls in both English & Spanish.

Again a Pretty Cool Contest. Looking forward to next weeks' matchups in the NFL. :)P.S. When Mark Sanchez threw a couple of Passes to Braylon Edwards as well as Thomas Jones storming through the Miami Defense to score a touchdown was Classic.

But don't worry Jets fans IMO they're going to the playoffs. :) And no doubt Dolphins fans that the Wildcat was in Full effect.

Plus it was unique that U of M (Michigan) alumnus Chad Henne through the Touchdown pass to OSU (Ohio State) Alumnus Ted Ginn Jr. Plus Be on the lookout for Ricky Williams & Ronnie Brown (I Think that's his 1st name) 2 powerful Running Backs with Speed & Agility.

The Wildcat was on the Move last night.

It was disheartening to see 70,000 fans on the stadium today. FedEx field has a capcity of 91,704 seats which used to be the league's biggest stadium before the Cowboys had their new stadium.

Part of it could hgave been the really bad weather here. It has been raining for 5 days straight. Most of it could be because of our horrible performance as a team. I've never seen that stadium look that much less in capacity even on our worst seasons.

Perhaps change could be in order for the Redskins. We did not score a touchdown today. Then again, It may have already started.

At halftime of Sunday’s game against Kansas City, Jim Zorn replaced struggling starter Jason Campbell with Todd Collins.

It didn’t provide the spark that Zorn had hoped for against the Chiefs, though.

The Redskins lost 14-6 at FedExField, dropping their record to 2-4 on the season.

Could more change be coming? Time will tell.

The Redskins’ offense was sluggish most of the game, failing to generate any rhythm. Playing against the NFL’s 32nd-ranked defense, the offense posted 265 yards of total offense, 147 passing yards and seven first downs.

Campbell completed 9-of-16 passes for 89 yards and one interception before he was benched.

In the second half, Collins guided the offense to two field goals but otherwise was stifled as well. He finished the game with 6-of-14 completions for 75 yards.

Third down was a problem for the Redskins. The offense converted just 2-of-14 third downs in the game.

The only thing to do now is to look at ourselves in the mirror and to take it like a man. Just try to be positive until we right this thing.

Brett Favre does it again to lead the Minnesota Vikings to a 33-31 vicotory. The Vikings are 6-0. They may end up meeting the New Orleans Saints in the NFC Championship game if they both continue to play well till the end of the season.

In snowy New England conditions, Patriots quarterback Tom Brady threw five second-quarter touchdown passes against the Tennessee Titans on Sunday. It was one short of the number he had totaled in his team’s first five games and the most by any quarterback in one quarter since 1950.

The Patriots took a 45-0 lead into halftime against the Titans. The 45 points is tied for the third-most points ever scored in a half by an NFL team. The Green Bay Packers scored 49 points in a half against Tampa Bay on Oct. 2, 1983, and the Buffalo Bills scored 48 against the Miami Dolphins on Sept. 18, 1966. Four other teams scored 45 points in a half.

Besides the five touchdown passes, Brady was 24-of-28 for 345 yards and no interceptions before halftime. The Patriots’ first drive of the second half ended, predictably, with another Brady touchdown pass, this one going for 9 yards to Randy Moss.

Drew Brees torched the Giants' league-leading defense, swarming Saints defenders ruined Eli Manning's homecoming and undefeated New Orleans matched its best start since 1993 with a 48-27 throttling of previously unbeaten New York on Sunday.

"We wanted to really dictate the tempo of the game the whole way through," Brees said. "Seven different guys scored touchdowns. That's big. That's the type of rhythm that, when you get in, you feel like you can call anything and it's going to work."

Brees ended his two-game streak without a touchdown throw by completing 23 of 30 passes for 369 yards and four scores, giving him 101 TD passes since the Saints signed him as a free agent in 2006.

The Giants (5-1) came into the game giving up averages of 210.6 yards and 14.2 points. The Saints (5-0) had 34 points and 315 yards by halftime.

The Saints have beaten all comers by 14 points or more and have yet to trail this season, looking more and more like the team to beat in the NFC.

Yet the architect of this juggernaut, coach Sean Payton, bristled at the notion that New Orleans' latest convincing victory over an undefeated team from New York -- they beat the Jets 24-10 in Week 4 -- meant that the Saints had established themselves as clear Super Bowl favorites

Manning looked like his father Archie sometimes did when he played for woeful Saints teams of old, fumbling on a sack by Roman Harper to set up a Saints score and throwing an interception under pressure that stalled a promising drive.

It was Manning's first game in the Superdome, but not a memorable one for him -- or for fellow Louisiana natives Brandon Jacobs and Corey Webster. Manning was 14 of 31 for 178 yards. He lost his cool at least once, yelling at Ahmad Bradshaw and slapping his shoulder pad after the running back's lapse in protection precipitated a rushed throw that Jabari Greer intercepted early in the third quarter.

"It's not the way I imagined it during the week, but you're going to encounter all sorts of games and all sorts of situations," Manning said before walking across the Superdome field to the team bus, his mother on one side, his father on the other. "I look at it as a loss. We need to go back to work this week, fix some things and try to improve."

Manning connected with Mario Manningham for a 15-yard score in the second quarter, but also overthrew an open Steve Smith on a deep pass that could have resulted in a touchdown in the first half. He was replaced by David Carr late in the fourth quarter.

By contrast, Brees connected on 15 straight throws at one point, two short of the franchise record he already owns. That stretch included his first three touchdown passes: 1 yard to former Giants tight end Jeremy Shockey, 36 yards to Robert Meachem and 12 yards to Lance Moore.

Saints players and coaches praised the offensive line, which routinely gave Brees time and did not allow him to be sacked.

"I don't know that we ever hit him," Giants head coach Tom Coughlin said of Brees, exaggerating only slightly. "At this level, if you're going to stop the pass, you've got to get pressure. You've got to force the quarterback not to throw it on his tempo."

Former Hofstra standout Marques Colston put on a show for his fans watching back in the New York area, often victimizing Webster as he caught eight passes for 166 yards and a 12-yard touchdown. He twisted gracefully in the air to snag passes thrown high and behind him, held the ball while absorbing hard hits and broke tackles while struggling for extra yards.

New Orleans gained more than 500 total yards before a sack of backup Mark Brunell made it 493. Moore caught six passes for 78 yards and Meachem had two catches for 70. New Orleans had 133 yards on the ground, led by Pierre Thomas' 72. Mike Bell, Reggie Bush and fullback Heath Evans all scored on runs.

The Giants were held to a season-low 84 yards rushing.

By the end, jubilant fans rained down chants of "Who dat say they gonna' beat them Saints. Who dat! Who dat!"

Colston said he was confident he and his teammates would not let their explosive start go to their heads -- not after missing the playoffs the past two seasons.

"This group has been together long enough to see some of the great times (the NFC championship game in 2006) and the last two years have been pretty difficult for us, so staying grounded is definitely not an issue in this locker room," Colston said. "We've got some great veteran leadership."

Notes: The Saints have scored on each of their opening drives this season, with four TDs and one field goal. ... Brees joined Archie Manning and Aaron Brooks as the only other QBs to pass for 15,000 yards and 100 TDs as a Saint. ... Giants right tackle Kareem McKenzie left with a groin injury in the second quarter. ... Saints LB Scott Fujita went out with a left calf injury in the first half.

Breaking news now:

Our head coach Jim Zorn was stripped of his play calling duties tonight. He is not fired and will still coach the team. Sherm Lewis who was hired last week as a consultant will call the plays on game day. Scuttlebutt has it that if Zorn is to be fired mid-way in the season, Defensive backs coach Jerry Gray would be the interim coach.

I feel for our coach and for our football team. We would certainly need some prayers now.

Now you don't have to Like Denver's Throwback Uniforms (My Issue was the Socks, ugh!!) but Nevertheless, it was a Great Old School American Football League (AFL) Rivaly going back before the merger with the National Football League (NFL) in 1970 with both teams wearing their throwback uniforms which was Cool.

Oh and as of recently: The Minnesota Vikings, New Orleans Saints & The Denver Broncos are currently tied with a 6-0 record in the National Football League (NFL).

Next week will be Philadelphia Eagles & The Washington Redskins on Monday Night Football. I'm sure that Ibarramedia will be watching Big Time right after the drama Coach Jim Zorn is going through recently.

Redskins lose again 27-17

The Redskins found themselves down 14. Defensively, the Redskins have done relatively well against the classic West Coast scheme of the Eagles. One breakdown was the 67 yard run by Desean Jackson. Offensively, a 9 yard Will witherspoon intercepcion was returned for a touchdown. The Redskins started with a couple of passes to Cooley, but have done little else. The Redskins have used some maximum protection formations on 3rd down to protect Campbell.

On the next possession, our quarterback scrambles and fumbles the ball. Witherspoon recovers. We lose Tight end Chris Cooley with a broken ankle.
The Eagles kick a field goal to make it 17-0. Rock Cartright had a beautiful return with a penalty by the Eagles tacked onto his yardage. We had a 13 yard reception by Moss and a 11 yard run by Rock Cartwright. We get to goal line and score on a play called 22 flanker Arrow Fullback quick to Devin Thomas at the corner of the right end zone.

We get a 3 and out and sack Mcnabb then our Antwan Randle El muffs the punt. Eagles ball. a 3 and out and they kick another field goal. to go up 20-7.

Huge turnovers and big plays are killing us. Injuries are pouring salt in the open wound....

A very uneventful third quarter. The stadium is quiet. The Redskins weren't awful in the quarter, but penalties and sacks have killed them. Andre Carter played well, picking up a sack. So far, we have seen some new formations and a couple of new plays, but it is not enough. The Redskins are not capable of executing plays for any extended periods of time. Turnovers, penalties, and big plays are way too much for a team with this talent level to overcome.

The only thing I've seen tonight that is good is Fred Davis. Fred has come in tonight and played really hard and finally put up some production. I'm happy to see him succeed and get some catches under his belt.

Its not much obviously if our backup tight end is the highlight of the night but regardless I've been generally impressed with his performance. His blocking really needs a lot of work but his pass catching has been very impressive.

Here are a few missed opportunities:

1) 2 dropped snaps

2) Int returned for touchdown

3) 2 fumbles one recovered by Philly

4) sacked 7 times

5) dove into the ground about 5 yards from any Philly player

6) open players missed

7) horrible decisions time after time (didn't throw to a wide open Moss on a pump fake)

8) Lousy 3rd down conversions. We only converted 2 of them. Lack of success in finishing drives.

9)Lack of protection and a mixed bag of breakdowns from everyone at various times of the game.

Ummm it seems Like teams such as the Washington Redskins as well as the St. Louis Rams are going through some challenging times in the NFL. But I was really shocked at finding out about the Vikings' loss to the Steelers (THAT SUCKS, NO JUSTICE, NO PEACE!!!!) Oh well there's always next time.

I didn't get the chance to watch any Football from Week 8 in the NFL because I was attending the 2009 NPC Western Michigan Bodybuilding, Fitness & Figure Championships over in the Grand Rapids suburb of Grandville, MI which was a National Qualifier. Gotta Love the Women BB in the Masters, Middleweight & Lightweight Classes.

Plus the timing was Good since the contest took place on the same weekend as the Detroit Lions' Bye week.

But now I'm ready for some Football and I will be posting some results before I check out what's happening at the casinos in Downtown Detroit.

Would you trade off some LMT M4s for AKs?

I have two 14.5 LMT M4s that are nicely outfitted. Was thinking of trading them for some SLR 106s or 107s. I dont have anyone lined up for the trade but I may try to sell them or trade them for AKs.

Football is really just a game, right? Your team plays for three hours each week and you have some fun watching the game with friends and then it's over until next week, or next year.
Well I have to tell you that in New Orleans right now football is the ambassador of the entire soul of the city. In a town starving for something positive to happen, the Saints (just a team playing a game) have captured the hearts of everyone. You can just feel the energy all week long. People seem friendlier, there is something to look forward to each week, and there is a genuine sense of community and pride in the city once again. Go figure.

With the Saints playing Monday night, Thanksgiving weekend won't end until sometime Tuesday morning when dawn cracks hard on the horizon, shaking out the streets and pushing us back to regular lives.

Saints in a shoot out, 38-35!! WOOOHOOO

So I really only have one thing to say about all this: WHO DAT, WHO DAT, WHO DAT SAY THEY GONNA BEAT THEM SAINTS?

I really hope the Saints beat the Patriots. Gregg Williams defense is also awesome. Before the season started, I picked the Saints,Vikings,Colts,Chargers,Ravens and Redskins to do well and go deep into the play offs. I'm always going to get dinged on the Redskins because I pick them every year. Right now, I don't think a win by the Saints will be considered an upset. They are unbeaten, are no. 1 in offense and 17 on defense. It very well could be a Vikings - Saints NFC Championship game.

Think about when the season started to unravel for the Redskins. You kept thinking, “Well, at least we get to play Oakland.” And now that we’re here, a win is far from certainty.

For starters, the Raiders, who are 4-8, actually come into the game with a better record than the Redskins. Stop and think about that. When was the last time the Raiders had a better record than their opponent? It hasn’t happened very often since their last Super Bowl run.

Speaking of Super Bowls, both teams are so down on their luck that today’s Raiders Gameday program is all about Super Bowl XVIII. Yes, Oakland won that game 38-9, but it’s safe to say that any time you’ve got to go back 25 years to find a worthy subplot, you’re not exactly talking about “must-see TV.”

If that’s not bad enough, the Redskins are still searching for their first road win of 2009. They’ve dropped their first six away games and now face a Raiders team that has won seven of the last 10 times these two franchises have faced off. The most recent matchup, a 16-13 loss back in 2005, still stings for many Skins fans. Probably because the Redskins were 10-6 and made the playoffs, while the Raiders were 4-12 that season. So yeah … not a lot of reason for optimism heading into this one.

All that being said, the Redskins are taking on the Raiders – a model of dysfunction. They’ve lost at least 11 games for six straight years. Their owner is Al Davis, who might be the one owner in the NFL less popular with his team’s fanbase than Daniel Snyder.

Even though the end up essentially getting their pick of talent in the NFL draft every year, they’re still no closer to turning things around thanks to wasted picks like JaMarcus Russell. We’d say more about him, but there’s no use wasting time on a player who won’t see action today. Russell was benched three weeks ago in favor of Bruce Gradkowski, which, sadly, represented an upgrade.

The Raiders have responded by winning two of three games since Gradkowski took over, picking up surprising victories over the Bengals and the Steelers. Their defense still gives up more big passing plays than any other team in the league and has allowed more than 500 yards rushing over the last three games. So if the Redskins offense plays like it has over the last month or so, they will be able to move the ball.

As far as what to watch for today: on Oakland you’ve got to start with tight end Zach Miller. He led the Raiders is receiving a year ago and has averaged 60 yards a game since Gradkowski took over. Oakland receiver Louis Murphy is also capable of doing some damage, as evident by his four catches for 128 yards and two scores last week. Those will be the two featured targets in the passing game, but the Raiders will likely look to get their running game going early and often.

Against Pittsburgh, the Raiders ran the ball 18 of their first 28 plays. They’ve been successful of late getting the ground game going and mixing in some shots downfield when they can. It’s a smart attack and will likely be what they aim for today.

For the Redskins, all eyes are on Quinton Ganther, who is the starting running back after being in Washington for all of a month. With Clinton Portis and Ladell Betts out of action, the team turned to Rock Cartwright and backed him up with Ganther. Just one problem – Ganther has been consistently better. It was only a matter of time before the team had to reward his effort, so we’ll get to see plenty of Quinton today.

The Raiders should also brace themselves for lots of Devin Thomas, who had his best game of his two-year career last week against New Orleans with seven catches for 100 yards and two touchdowns. With Santana Moss likely seeing plenty of Raiders cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Thomas get another six or seven passes thrown his way.

Guess what? The Redskins finally did today what they've been unable to do since Jim Zorn took over this team two season ago - they blew out an opponent. This 34-13 beatdown was a thing of beauty because the offense and defense both shined.

Today they played a subpar opponent and took care of business. Raiders quarterback Bruce Gradkowski looked average at best, completing 10 of 18 passes for 153 yards, while being sacked twice. Well, when Redskins defensive end/linebacker Chris Wilson knocked him out of the game ... the Raiders quickly realized how much they missed him.

JaMarcus Russell, who might be the biggest bust in NFL history, came in the second half and was absolutely dreadful. He was 10 of 16 passes for 74 yards and an interception, while being sacked six times for 52 yards.

In fact, the eight sacks by Washington was the most they've had in a game since 1990. The team record is 10. According to Sonny Jurgensen, had JaMarcus Russell played the entire game, the Redskins would have had at least 15 sacks. Not to pile on, but one of the players even referred to Russell as "The Statue of Liberty" because he's basically incapable of evading any kind of pass rush.

Leading the defensive onslaught was rookie defensive end/linebacker Brian Orakpo, who tied the team record for sacks in a game with four. Orakpo was reminded after the game (by defensive end Phillip Daniels) that he now shares the record with ... you guessed it ... Phillip Daniels.

While the defense was busy playing its best game of the year, the offense was happy to continue its string of strong performances.

Jason Campbell went 16 of 28 for 222 yards and two touchdowns, and finished with a QB rating of 106.5. For what it's worth, Campbell has now had a passer rating over 100 in three of the last five weeks.

Campbell played well, even when, at times, he had little to no time to pass, because his receivers were able to find space and make catches. Fred Davis, who has become the team's go-to threat in the passing game, was the first tight end to score a touchdown against the Oakland Raiders this season. He liked it so much, he did it twice.

With Davis making plays in the passing game, Quinton Ganther took care of the rest. Ganther, who is originally from California, couldn't have asked for a better day. Making his first start as a Redskin, he had 93 total yards and two touchdowns. Making it all that much sweeter was the fact that he did so in front of 200 friends and family members in attendance. This was a game he admitted he'll never forget.

And honestly, this is a game many of us won't forget. Because for one day, this team played the way we all thought they would when the 2009 season began. The offense didn't have to settle for field goals. The defense didn't give up a backbreaking fourth-quarter drive and everyone goes home happy. Well ... except Raider fans.

Actually Ibarra, the Redskins should have beat the Saints. They outplayed them on both sides of the ball and I had pretty much accepted that this was the week the Saints finally lost. Some years teams just find ways to win and some years they find ways to lose. There is a fine line between the two.

As a long time Saints fan I'm used to searching for "moral victories", so I would submit that Redskin fans should be happy that their team is headed in the right direction. I think the Skins will be a major factor in the playoff picture as they host both the Giants and Cowboys the next two weeks. I say they win at least one of those games, maybe both.

The last 3 games were a heartbreaker because we could not close the deal and ended up losing in the last minutes games against very strong teams that we dominated throughout the game. Most people don't realize it takes at least 3 years to master the offense we have. As much as I hate losing, the offensive line issues and injuries were a big concern. In this day and age it is a what have you done for me lately? Kind of league. To all the true fans out there, keep the faith win or lose. If we had won all the close games we should have won our record now would be 10-2. Same as the Vikings. The Saints would be 12-1. but sadly that is not how things are..... Hail to the Redskins!

ASHBURN, Va. -- Coach Jim Zorn was fired by the Washington Redskins early Monday, the first step in yet another team overhaul under owner Dan Snyder.

Zorn was informed of his dismissal shortly after the team returned to Redskins Park following Sunday's season-ending 23-20 loss at San Diego.

Jim Zorn
Washington Redskins

Coaching record
2008: 8-8
2009: 4-12
Zorn went 12-20 over two seasons, but he lost 18 of his last 24 games after a 6-2 start in 2008. The Redskins struggled early despite a weak schedule this season and finished 4-12, their worst record since 1994.

"The status quo is not acceptable," new Redskins general manager Bruce Allen said in a statement released by the team. "I felt it was necessary to not waste a moment of time to begin building this team into a winner."

Zorn's replacement will be Washington's seventh coach since Snyder bought the team in 1999. Playing a role in the decision will be Allen, who was hired as the GM last month.

Zorn's dismissal had been expected for months. The front office stripped him of his play-calling duties in late October, and Snyder interviewed assistant coach Jerry Gray for the job weeks ago, according to the Fritz Pollard Alliance, which monitors minority hiring in the NFL.

Former Denver Broncos coach Mike Shanahan is considered the favorite to replace Zorn. The new coach, Snyder and Allen will have a monumental task to rebuild a team with many roster deficiencies and major questions at offensive line, quarterback and running back.

This season's team was hurt by numerous injuries, a lack of depth and many off-the-field distractions but also by an inability of Zorn's West Coast offense to consistently find the end zone. The Redskins failed to score more than 17 points in their first eight games, prompting the front office to bring longtime NFL assistant coach Sherm Lewis out of retirement as an offensive consultant and play-caller.

Zorn, who had never previously been a head coach or coordinator in the NFL, wasn't even on Snyder's list of candidates when Joe Gibbs retired at the end of the 2007 season. Zorn become a last-minute option when other contenders either showed no interest, dropped out or were deemed unsatisfactory. Snyder initially hired Zorn to be the offensive coordinator, then promoted him to head coach two weeks later after an extensive interview.

STATEMENT FROM REDSKINS OWNER DANIEL M. SNYDER

“This has been an extremely difficult season for our organization and for the fans. Bruce Allen spent many hours examining the football operations, and we are both determined to do whatever it takes to build a championship team. That process begins today.

“No one in the organization is satisfied with our record over the last two years, and I am sure that Jim would concur with that statement. It has been painful for him too. I certainly accept responsibility for mistakes that I have made. I am hopeful that our fans will accept my commitment and pledge to deliver a franchise that can compete in the NFC East every season.

“Finally, I am mindful that this is a tough day for Jim and his family, and I do want to wish him success in his next endeavor.

Well, well Ibarra, thanks for keeping the thread Alive Good Buddy!! Now I will say that this was a more Exciting Season than the 2008-09 season of last year!! And Congrats to Tripper's New Orleans saints for their Accomplishments.

Now When it came to the AFC Championships My Pick was for the Indianapolis (Formerly Baltimore) Colts to get even & win after the Drama in Week 15 when the coach removed Peyton Manning as well as the regular starters in that previous match up against the New York Jets.

Now don't get Me wrong Jets fans your Team was Good but the Colts due to their previous playoff & championship experience was much Better.

Now on the NFC Side for me it was a tough one because I couldn't decide since there were 2 Great teams that competed in that Match up between the New Orleans Saints & the Minnesota Vikings becuase IMO that Game could've gone either way.

And also on a side note: in the AFC/NFC Pro Bowl which was held on the US Mainland in 30 years (in the Same site 1 week before the Super Bowl XLIV "44" in Miami, FL USA) The AFC defeated the NFC with a score of 41-34. Now unless this is confirmed it's a rumor, Super Bowl XLV "45" may or may not take place in the new Cowboys Stadium in Dallas/Fort Worth, TX USA Feb 2011 while the Pro Bowl may or may not be back in Hawaii either a week or 2 after the Super Bowl. Again unless it's confimed, it's just a rumor.

Now for My Pics for Super Bowl IV "44" from Miami, FL USA
New Orleans Saints vs Indianapolis Colts- Based on past playoff experience as well as 21-25 returning starters from Super Bowl XLI "41" at the same location, The odds as well as The "Motor City" fan is going for the Indianapolis Colts to win the Game, Nuff said.

Also to My Fellow Posters from Canada, please let us know who've won the CFL equivalent of the Super Bowl because inquiring minds would Like to know.:)

I'll forgive you for that cb. After all the Colts bandwagon is huge, the Colts are all big and bad, been there and done that, there is no way the Saints have a chance against the mighty Colts.

YADDA YADDA FREAKIN YADDA

If I had a dollar for every time the national media has dissed the Saints in the last two weeks, I'd have sideline seats at the superbowl. But that's cool because all of the pressure is on the Colts. They HAVE to win this game or their season is a failure.

The Saints on the other hand are playing with house money. They have nothing to lose and can go out and have fun and play with reckless abandon. Nothing can diminish the absolute magic that has taken place here in New Orleans the last few weeks. It is unbelievable. And with Mardi Gras season kicking off, we'll all be partying for the next two weeks, win or lose.

Oh and by the way. The Saints are a lot better than people give them credit for. #1 offense, top 5 running game, oppurtunist defense that led the league in scoring. They forced five fumbles and two picks against the Vikes and pummeled Favre all day long. Offensive line was named best in league and kept Jared Allen and his pals at bay all game long.

We shall see. As they say "that's why they play the game"

My prediction: game starts a little rough but becomes a shootout. Darren Sharper gets a critical pick late in the game to preserve a 35-31 victory for the Saints.

WHO DAT!! WHO DAT!! WHO DAT SAY THEY GONNA BEAT THEM SAINTS!!

The Saints will win it by a field goal with 3 seconds left on the clock during regulation time. 48-47 New Orleans Saints.

The Saints will win it by a field goal with 3 seconds left on the clock during regulation time. 48-47 New Orleans Saints.

Now that's what I'm talking about!!

The New Orleans Saints won the Superbowl defeating the Indianapolis Colts 31-17 in a back and forth game the switched leads a few times until the las few minutes of the 4th quarter where a innterception was returned for a touchdown. I had really envisioned it being high scoring that I predicted it would be 48-47 saints on a field goal as time expired. Congratulations to the Saints. They tied the Washington Redskins in coming back from 10 points down to win a Superbowl. Washington Was down 10 points in Superbowl XXII to score 35 points in the second quarter using an astonishing 5:35 of the game clock.

The Cardinals should have won their first Superbowl last year when they lost to the Steelers.

Well, I'm going to publicly admit when that I'm only Human and Give the Saints their Props on a well earned Victory in Super Bowl XLIV. Now at 1st it seemed Like the Colts was going to do Good & Kick Butt until the start of the 2nd Half in which:

1) The on side kick turned things in the Saints favor
2) Adam Vinnetari (not sure on correct spelling of last name) didn't play in that Game so someone else attempted to kick a field goal from about 40 or 50 yards and missed it.
3) Peyton Manning had done a "Brett Farve" (No disrespect to Brett) in which instead of going to the run game to ensure another field goal with 2-4 minutes left in the 4th Quarter tried to throw the ball to Reggie Wayne only to be intercepted by New Orleans Quarterback Tracy Porter (who coincidently had done to both Brett Farve & Kurt Warner a couple of weeks earlier during the NFC Playoffs & Championship rounds) & scored a touchdown putting the Colts far behind.
4) The 2 point conversion controversy, Can't blame Coach Payton for noticing that on the spot.
5) Peyton Manning's 2nd attempt in the 4th Quarter had gotten Deflected or Intercepted by Darren Sharper.

In My Opinion that Super Bowl had all of the ingredients for the Indianapolis Colts to have win the Game but instead, the tide had turned to the Saints to have win the Super Bowl.

So in conclusion (and you're hearing this from the "Motor City" fan is that) I feel sorry for the Colts loss because of what happened but, they're still a Good team & they've had a Good season in 2009 & you can't take anything from them. Beyond that the New Orleans Saints have won the Game fair & square so Congratulations to the Super Bowl Champs.

Hmmm just imagine, the Saints Victory Parade as well as the upcoming Mardi Gras on Fat Tuesday before the Start of Lenten season in the Heart of Downtown New Orleans.

The "Who Dat" Nation as well as the Gulf Coast residents have something to Celebrate & be Proud of since the whole Hurricane Katrina & Rita Fiasco some years ago.

The New Orleans Saints have definitely Surpassed the Dallas Cowboys as "America's Team", plus the "Who Dat" Nation (New Orleans Saints Fans) will give the Steeler Nation (Pittsburgh Steelers Fans), Dallas Cowboys Fans & The Cheeseheads (Green Bay Packers Fans) their run for the Money.:o :)

I believe the Canadian Football league's equivalent of the superbowl is called the Grey cup.

The Montreal Alouette's beat my Saskatchewan Roughriders by a field goal at the end of the game. This was the second attempt because on the first one (which was wide) we had a penalty call for too many men on the field.
Our championship game is called the Grey cup as ibarramedia stated above.

We need more input from our fellow posters from Canada just as much as those from here in the U.S.A. on what's going on in the CFL. Plus there are plenty of folks in Toronto as well as in Windsor Ontario that also follow the NFL along with the CFL.

Beyond that I'll be checking out the NFL Scouting Combine to see what's going down with the possible top recruits that will be on their journey to the Pro Draft in April 2010.

Oh one more thing folks My Bad (I'm Sorry, My Mistake) New Orleans Saint Tracy Porter position is Cornerback, not Quarterback. But nevertheless the Man's got skills Big Time.:o
