I've got friends down there too, Ibarra. I sure hope she is safe. My brother's place was torn up on the outside, they lost their power and he had the roof tiles blown off his house but he said it made out OK because it was built like a fortress and had storm windows. Amanda, if you read this we are all worried about you and hope you are OK?

I just spoke with Mimi Jabalee (who you can now see and chat with at www.ftwebcam.com) who told me she got a text messege that Amanda is OK. She has no power (like he 4 million other folks there) but is safe

I spoke with her a few times today and she's OK. Like James said, she has no electricity so she can't get online and probably won't be able to post here for a few days, but she's safe. Her main problem - with no electricity and most stores and restaurants shut - was getting food, but the last time I spoke to her she'd found a place to have a burger, so she was happy!

I'm glad she's safe. I read somewhere that she's tired of Florida. Maybe she can move up to Maryland.

I think I will just stay in the Midwest, in the middle, away from the other stuff. :) We may have a tornado every once in a very long while, but that is about it.

Yep, she's totally over the whole hurricane thing and ready to move when she graduates from school next May.

At this time does she still have no power? i feel bad for her. She knew it was coming yet there was nothing she could do about it.

It's been a rough year for hurricanes. I like my chances far better against a tornado. I've yet to experience a big earthquake, but the small ones haven't been a big deal.

Without getting too far off-topic, the doomsday cults are having a field day now. I'm sure those clowns are making more money than ever talking about the "end of days".

Yep still no power - just spoke to her. Luckily her mom who lives nearby does have electricity.

Sweet! That means she gets to plug in her cell phone. :D

I'm glad she's got access to power and hope they've got plenty of food and fresh water in the house.

"Rough years" (hurricane wise) are here to stay. I am not with the "the world is going to end tomorrow" groove, but climate definetively is changing and I would not be surprised at all if in my lifetime florida, cuba and yucatan dissapear under the ocean thanks to polar melting. So I hope Amanda does get the hell out of florida, there are plenty of places where she can live without fear of having (at least) one mayor huracane every year :p

Tre since you used to live in my area and you usually know everything, maybe you will agree that the dc/balt area is pretty good. We get no floods,no tornados,no major hurricanes of significant magnitude, no forest fires in summer nor heavy snow in the winter, no earthquakes or other natural disasters. The only thing you have to put up with is the damn dreaded @#%$ Dc Traffic which is ranked 2nd worst in the us, but in my opinion worst in the us. The LA area was ranked #1 but i've been there a few times and i think ours is worse.

Hey everyone! Just a quick update. I have no power at my house still... I was going to my moms house for showers... luckily the gym opened yesterday and I could go there for a shower also. School is cancelled until Monday and they are saying we might not have power for 4 weeks where I am. It really sucks.... Joanna Thomas also had issues w/ power, although she is on the other coast in Ft. Lauderdale, she has a generator so she has temporary power and they are thinking for her it'll be about 4 weeks also. It really sucks and has made for a huge hassle with everyday life.

I decided last minute yesterday to get out of Ft. Myers since we have no school and I came up to stay with Mimi Jabalee... So I'm up here having a great time. Once school is done, I should hopefully be able to move up here and get out of hurricane central. lol

Thanks for the posts everyone. I'll keep ya updated when I have internet access. :)

Thanks for checking in, Amanda - glad to know you're safe.

Tell Mimi I've got her *inked* in as the Heavyweight champ for next month! ;)

Also, are we still on for a meal in Atlanta? ;)

I'm Very glad you are safe Amanda. I don't blame you for wanting to get out of Florida. Why did Joanna want to move to Florida from sunny California? Well, glad to know she is safe also. Take care now Amanda and we will hear from you soon.

I talked to Betty Viana today - she also experienced a loss of electric and phone service in Miami Beach, but no structural damage.

Oh yeah. I wonder if the champ Yaxeni Oriquen made it out okay. I don't know how many other fbbs are down in Florida.

Oh yeah. I wonder if the champ Yaxeni Oriquen made it out okay. I don't know how many other fbbs are down in Florida. I have to wonder about Yamile Marrero and Debi Laszewski Ibarra. They are in pre-contest mode for the Nationals. I hope this doesn't throw them off, you know?

Oh yeah Yamille. I hope she's ok. I thought Debi was in the midwest like minnesota or milwaukee?

AmandaHey Amanda I'm glad that you're safe from Hurricane Wilma. I saw on the news last week of all of the drama that the hurricane has caused. And if you're staying with Mimi then you could always get together with Gina Davis & the Body Tech crew or get together with Colette or Robin Parker, somewhere safe.

I hope that Yaxeni Oriquen, Debi Laszewski, and Yamile Marrero are alright as well.

I'm also glad that you're family is safe and sound as well. Stay strong Amanda and never give up you'll pull through.
