Boys and girls, I read a lot of what is written here and scrutinize each and every picture. As a group we criticize, debate and judge all the hard work of these inspirational women. Girls, I am here to tell that you motivate me everyday I begrudgingly drag my beaten body back into the gym for another gut wrenching workout. This is the reason you are the topics of our conversations. This is the reason I am starting this tread. A thread dedicated to the men and women on NBC's "The Biggest Loser". "Average" John and Jane Does reminding us that you don't need to step on stage to motivate others. I am encouraging all of you, especially our talked about athletes, to post a little something about these courageous men and women if at anytime they have motivated you as they have me.

Nick,
As a motivating show I give it 10 out of 10. But I must say that it bothers me that they create the wrong impression when it comes to the physical training. I am sur ethere are many personal trainers on this forum that wil tell you the "bootcamp" style training and all the esoteric exercises they make these contestants do is just totally unnecesary...hope you are not following their techniques. :-)

If people do follow it it is not a bad thing. I think most people want as little change as possible. If you can find away to make small changes that work I think that is best for most people at least they might stick with it.

It's the wanting and willing to change that I find motivational. It's a reminder that if you work toward any goal it is achievable. And... I'm a natural bodybuilder and intend to do my first competition at the start of next year. That said, the training on "The Biggest Loser" has little to be desired.

I have to admit I haven't followed the program real closely, but I know that it provides a lot of inspiration to many people. One of my co-workers loves the show and I think it inspires her a great deal. My hat is off to anyone who is wanting and willing to change. Having been a former "fatty" (no insults intended - I'm calling myself that), I know how hard it is to get up and do something about it. But once you do it's such a great feeling!

I agree that the extreme exercise tactics are not necessarily required to produce results. As a personal trainer, I have witnessed some pretty amazing results in my clients without extreme tactics. Just getting them on a regular exercise regime has worked quite well, and it's really important to help someone progress without injury and agony - I want them to do this for the rest of their lives, not just temporarily. I wish those on the program the very best of health!
