cardio equipment??

OK... I'm looking to purchase some cardio equipment for my house. I'm really picky about it and want to hear everyone else's opinions... Anyone have any ideas of how to get a great deal? Where should I go?? I've looked on Ebay, but I'm really nervous about buying anything THAT big for that much money on there. I'm looking for a LIFE FITNESS, elliptical machine. I've thought about it for ages and I REALLY want it... I think its necessity now. :)

I always liked Precor for cardio. I think they have some of the best Elliptical Machines IMO. I think they usually make their stuff for commercial gym use so I think they are pretty heavy duty. I am not an expert at pricing and stuff, my idea of buying cardio equipment generally encompasses getting a new jump rope, so I am not sure how much of a good deal they are. Some of the ones on their website didn’t seem to be all that expensive. :)

Hey amanda, you might want to look into Busy Body Gyms To Go (http://www.gymstogo.com/items.php?sid=2&iid=1). i used to purchase free weights there a while back. i found them to be very helpful, friendly and, have reasonable rates. Additionally, they have several loactions throughout Florida (no Ft. Myers though).

Thanks you guys!! OK, here's the deal. I changed my mind since the last post.... now have decided on a regular stepper. I figured less space, better for my legs, so its almost like doing the stairs and decent price. I bought this:

I just came from a place near me called Liesure Fitness as a matter of fact. I bought standard plates from Hampton for my new toy, a pec-deck. Most of my weights are solid hex dumbells or are Olympic Size Holes for my Olympic Bars and Curl Bars. Everytime I go in there I get the impression most of their money is made by selling cardio machines. I think it is really hard to beat the *Universal Recumbent Lifecycle* for safety and effectiveness. I have no price at the moment but I may go back tomorrow. I should get one because cardio is important. I used to run fast laps around a High School track, but my knees have taken a beating.

Way to go Max for the pec deck. I love that machine for chest and rear delts... love it... cardio is necessity though, it's a must. I have a crappy recumbent bike now and I have to FORCE myself to use it. I'd rather have less sleep and get up early to go to the gym to use their cardio then get on my own recumbent bike... so I knew it was time to get something before I am too far into my prep. :)

I got it for $15.00 and it is a plate loader, but close to a gym quality pec-deck. I also go to www.usedgymeqipment.com , but there don't seem to be many real outrageous deals like I found in the classifieds. Good luck with your stair stepper! It has propably got a guarantee and that is something you do not find in the remanufactured market. Great thread.

I called Berry's Barbell and Total Fitness in Naples earlier today and they are a little expensive. If these guys take too long, you can just cancel the order without penalty as long as you paid by credit card, then have somebody else deliver it. Good luck. I know you just can't wait to do cardio two or three times a day, right Amanda..ha, ha, ha. LOL ;)
