Hi, I wanted to post a little note after reading Gene's take on the Canadian Nationals and second his thoughts on Marium Capes not getting a procard. I have only met Marium twice (both Nationals) and I can only say how totally disappointed and pissed off I was when she was not given that pro card. Like Gene said, she could totally hang with Kelly Ryan on stage. She is the sweetest, most humble and yet inspiring athetes I've ever had the chance to compete with. Marium is in a class by herself. It seems that Canada passes out their pro cards based on the number of years a competitor has been competing and not on the calibur of the athlete. In the past few years, aside from Mindy OBrien of course, Canadian fitness/figure pros have either retired from the sport, not competed or been at the bottom of the placings after they achieve Procard status. I really wish that Canada (and I am a "Canadian") would try to showcase their top athletes instead of making them "do their time at Nationals". Tracey

Hey Tracey, great to see you on here! There are a lot of tremendous Canadian athletes and it's unfortunate that so many that do turn pro seem to disappear. Luckily the last couple years we've seen the new pros compete more (Jane Awad, Christine Roth, Deb Leung, etc.) and I think they've all performed well.

I agree that I with Myriam could have got her pro card at that show, but she seemed to have shaken it off and is going to be looking at the North Americans.

And of course we wanna see you on that pro stage too T!
