Ok I'm going to get a littler debatable here! Everybody seems to compliment each other, which is great, but on this I'm sorry, that's 3 weeks out?? Is she going down to 135, cause she is going to get spanked in the hvys. Sorry I feel she was one of the most handed to cards as a pro. I'm not hating it's just fact!!!

...Everybody seems to compliment each other, which is great, but...I'm not hating it's just fact!!!
Kudos beenaround. Finally someone has the gumption required to state an opinion or a critique other than one based upon 'sunshine & flowers in a meadow'. i had really stopped commenting on alot of things on this board because of this very fact; It seem as though everyone feels obligated to be super-nice as opposed to being honest. Not everyone has a superb package. This too is a part of the game. Sometimes, i think it would serve best to just spend a little more time in the workshop perfecting a product, before bringing it to market.
Personally, i know when i am off -- especially when getting ready for a competition. The last thing i would like to hear is a group of yes-men telling me how great i am or look rather than telling me i need to step my game up.

I don't know about sunshine and flowers in a meadow, but I personally do try and find the best parts. Its cool and I don't have a problem with you guys appraising and critiquing, I just find it hard to do that myself. Its not that I am gutless or a brown-noser or something, I just tend to find the best parts and not the problems. I grew up as the chunky kid and so it’s hard for me to bring up negativity as everybody posted so far has better conditioning then me! But trust me HumanFreakShow300, I am not all about sunshine and flowers in a meadow!!! ;)

It's all good. We are all family here (i hope). Please note however, i did not mention anyone in particular. i did not make a critique of any physique or comment on anyone's critique of another. i was merely making a reference to the fact that everything is always so 'shiny' -- nothing more. Just a general observation not a finger-pointing opportunity, a dis, or anything negative for that matter. Just looking at it from a different angle. If there is a right, then there has to be a left.

Sorry I feel she was one of the most handed to cards as a pro. I'm not hating it's just fact!!!
When Sarah Dunlap won the HW and overall at the 2002 NPC Jr Nationals, there were a lot of bodybuilding fans who felt that Heather Policky should've won that show. They made very compelling arguments in support of Heather and there was no debating the fact that she (Heather) had made quite an impression on the crowd.
When Sarah won the HW and overall at the 2002 NPC Nationals in Dallas, however, no such arguments (in favor of other competitors) were made...at least not where the bodybuilding public could see them.
While I agree that the decision at the Jr Nationals could've gone either way, there was no doubt at the Dallas Nationals that she was the HW winner. I'm not here to talk about the overall at that show (Jeannie Paparone won the MW...ahem), only the class.
She was the best in the HW class and that's why she won the pro card from that division. The rest of the top-5 heavies were good, but none of them pulled it all together as well as Sarah did that day. After winning, she gave her body a much-needed break.
I fully expect Sarah to be ready for the NY show. Other than her own board at DtV, I don't think Sarah really reads message boards, so she won't get to use all the comments as 'bulletin board material'. It has been rather entertaining (for me) to watch today, though. I can't wait to see what happens next week. ;)

Once again I'm not hating on her, it's just how the judges want to judge once again.
To this day, the judges are still somewhat going by the 2000 change. Jeanne was FANTASTIC that day, but probably oh whats it called?? too conditioned for their taste.

My point was to reply to the issue raised by Michelle. I've heard it said before and I'm merely stating the fact - Sarah was the best in her class at the 2002 Nationals and that's why she's a pro. If anyone else felt they could've beaten her, then they should've shown up at the contest that day, in shape and ready to do battle.
I wasn't aware that she read any message boards, but have since advised her to disregard them until at least after her show. As for having 'the balls' to post, again, she's been advised to leave the petty chatter alone. She still makes her own decisions, but she's aware that she has nothing to gain in replying to anything stated by someone on a message board.

By 'rest', Michelle, you know exactly what I mean. Too many other young women are out there in a bigtime hurry (and there are some who *were* rushing, but may since have turned it down a notch) to get NOWHERE and they're just blind to the facts. Dear god, please tell me what's so magical about a little plastic trophy? And yet, you've got all these pimps and 'gurus' out there pumping their girlfriends fulla god-knows-what, leaving many of them near death on more than one occasion.
In Sarah's case, she was 22 when she won her pro card. In what universe would you have expected her to step onto the pro stage right away and be able to be competitive? And that's not even the hard question. The tougher questions are the ones we can't even whisper about in public forums.
You should have a bad taste in your mouth about that, because 'reality' is a jacked-up mistress in this business. Most days, I'll admit that it sickens me as well...I just have to block it out of my mind.
By whatever standard you wish to apply, however, Sarah won the 2002 HW class. You want small, symmetric, big, hard, whatever...she was the winner. All the bases were covered.
Yes, Jeannie Paparone was the best pure *bodybuilder* in the show, but who cares? She won the MW, she got her pro card, and she's already been competitive at the next level. The overall pretty much only means something to the person who was awarded it.
Regarding Iris, I'm not really in a position to talk about that.
Sarah has plenty of time and she's looking much better already. She'll make an excellent showing at this contest.

To add to this, no one I think was saying Sara didn't have potential, obviously she does as she turned pro...the arguments on this board were mainly that she didn't look 3.5 weeks out and be able to be ready in time in the original pics posted...which we find out were not accurate dates so this thread was actually pointless.
Had these pics been posted in the first place...half the posts would not have taken place.
In light of this.....Ladies..we all know this but I am going to reiterate...there is no defense in this sport...there is nothing you can do to make someone better or worse...regardless of when the pics of sara were taken if you were someone competing against her, it wouldn't matter as your game plan is not affected nor should be affected by anyones contest prep. Keep focusing on you and being the best you can be. Use this as a lesson to all when getting ready for your next show...don't let the pics you see of others affect your contest prep...just do what you know you need to do to win...

Tre' you know I respect your opinion, but there is NO way Dunlap deserved that heavyweight win in Dallas. She had NOTHING, I repeat, NOTHING going on when she posed her back. All she had was nice quads and a nice symmetrical look from the front. Lack of quality in the back and hamstrings is just too much to overcome when it comes to winning a weight class at a National show AND getting a pro card.

You know our respect is mutual and that I totally value your physique assessments. You've been in the game a long time and are definitely one of the most knowledgeable people in the industry. But now that we've got your credentials out of the way... ;)
You and I both know that so much of bodybuilding success is luck and timing. If she'd put that same physique onstage in 2000, 2001, 2003, or 2004, we'd mostly be talking about someone who was a solid top-5 placer, but not a national champion. Heather Foster, Beth Roberts, Annie Rivieccio, and Gina Davis (or Cindy Gonzales in the LHW) were all better bodybuilders on the day they won their titles.
I know you're a big Sherry Smith fan - I think many of us are - but the overall presentation just wasn't there that day, despite her superior muscularity. As good as Sherry has been all these years, we didn't see her totally nail it until last year's USAs, where by all rights, 3 pro cards should've been awarded.
The wild card that day in 2002 was Heather Policky. My bet is that if she could've matched her conditioning from the Jr Nationals that same year, she could've beaten Sarah. Heather was no doubt affected by doing the USAs, a show which Sarah skipped in order to focus on Nationals.
I do, however, agree with everyone who has stated that Jeannie Paparone should've been awarded the overall in 2002. In fact, I believe even Sarah herself admitted that at the time.

Sorry Tre', again I beg to differ. Not only was Sherry Smith better, and yes I am unashamed in being a Smith fan, but Policky was better too. Sherry's mid-section may have been a little wide at that show, but her overall muscularity and condition, particularly from the back totally blew Dunlap off the stage. If the card was going to be awarded based on symmetry then Policky should have won hands down over Dunlap. You could stand on the biggest soapbox the NPC could find and you would never convince me otherwise. The only bodypart Dunlap had over everyone else in that class on that night was her smile.

Things are blah for me..it seems like nothings going right at the moment but i will be at the USA's for sure!! I need a lil vacation to get away from it all and and then come back home to it...ahh yes life is grand...lol...as for you...since Angie is competing...I will assume that I will see you there.
