Yes, I competed in powerlifting (bench, deadlift and squat) for about 3 years back in 2001. The Deadlift is definately the lift I am best at. I pulled 370lbs last April in 2005 in a meet in the memory of my late Powerlifting coach. I was shocked with myself I did that, my goal that day was to pull 330lbs. I can still pull 250lbs for about 10 reps today.

Once I learned about dieting I decided to go toward Fitness competing and I love it. I have been working hard trying to change my "blocky" frame I built while powerlifting into a flowing, aesthetic physique. Powerlifting gave me a great base, now it is time to shape it!

I didn't :( couldn't get off of work...booo...

but yes, I will most defintiely be doing the mountaineer...I was going to do jr natls but finances are just not going to allow that so instead I'm going to try for the mountaineer, elite, and then miami...b/c I mean why not...learn from all the best for next year and have fun in freakin' miami! :banana:

I have never understood how the judges come to their desicions. To me, the ladies who look the best are usually the ones who come in at the bottom on the official results table. :mad:

Maybe you could explain this to me a little Jennifer, as you have 'been there done that' so to speak! :carrot:

Jennifer - You looked beautiful. As for your placings going backwards as you get better, maybe that means it's time you stepped up to bbing?? It seems like a lot of figure girls are getting penalized for being too muscular and getting frustrated.

well........all I am going to say is.............no not i told u so, but I love ya jen, and you need to follow your heart, if it is not in bb, it's not (even though I wish it was!) truth be told, I think you could win you class in bb, no problem, but then what? could you win overalls and turn pro? if so, how could you do as a pro?? all these questions, from the outside looking in........your chances of turning pro, and DOING WELL as a pro are higher in figure (kicking myself right now for admitting that hehehehehehee) give it another shot at jr nats, and i agree with tom, dont change......for the first time ever, I acutally saw you happy with your body and conditioning.....stay true to yourself, how many times have you told me "it's not worth it, don't ever do that to yourself just to win" I know we are talking 2 different directions here.......but the moral is the same, be happy with your body and how you look, then just hope the judges like it too!

did I ever tell u guys........when jen and I trained together for bb, the guys at are gym (these 2 we called hans and frans lol) called us arnold and franco........hehehe we were a site the 2 of us.......one 6 feet tall the other 5 feet lol, jen must be one of the most beautiful people I have ever seen, and the best part is, she is beautiful from the inside out. If I am rating her a 20 (on a 10 scale) based on her "looks" her personality and frinedship rating is off the scale......

Great pictures of everyone! I am new here, but I have to agree with some of you on the judging. I am very confused about what the judges want. I looked at the comparison shots from the pre-judging and am baffled! I competed in the light-heavy womens and was told that my upper body was "too much". Too lean, too hard! What? One show you are not lean enough and the next you are too much. Hey Gene, I have some great pics that my husband took at the Isle of Palms that same day after I ate a big breakfast. I will be sending you a copy. I would like to post those! Oh, this is Jennifer Myers, "the bodybuilder"

I see Jennifer's placings were all over the place; 2 first places, 4 seconds, 2 thirds and one fourth.

If the judges said the class winner had an overall better package that would be one thing, but I can't see how they can ask a national-level competitor to have less size and hardness than you showed in Charleston. The Jr USAs may be a judging anomoly, I wouldn't look at it for setting any trends for the rest of the year.

You wouldn't happen to have any comparisons for the prejudging, would you? Jennifer does not look too hard IMO. No veins and no striations. I don't know where they are coming from.

I'm in agreement with TomNine and fbbhubby on Jennifer Myers. Jennifer's upper body looks good, but her legs appear to be still somewhat soft to me. Tom said it best as how can they ask a national level bodybuilder to carry less muscle and come in softer than she did? :headscrat
Jennifer, who did you speak to at the show about your placing? Did you speak to Sandy Ranalli, one of the judges or several of the judges? The judges obviously still aren't on the same page as far as what the NPC is going for as the classes weren't that deep. Jennifer shoudn't be getting 1st-4th place votes from the judges...I could understand 1-2 place differences in the judges votes for a top five person, but not 4. This is causing a major headache for females wanting to compete as they have no idea how to prepare as it varies from show to show...or judge to judge. This is the same thing Elena faced last year at the USA's when one judge told her she was too big, another said not big enough, another said too lean, and another said not lean enough.

I talked with Sandy. She just said too much on the upper body. Look at the comparisons in the pre-judging. My legs separated, but thats the only place where I can see a complaint. I don't know. Look at the back shots especially. It's crazy.... I was told to just keep doing what I am doing and it will pay off. So, I am not going to get discouraged. Try, Try again and I will work especially hard on my legs. Thanks for all the positive feed back. Gene, I can't wait for you to see these pictures.....

Hey Jennifer M! sorry to hear about what u went thru at jr usa.........frustrating isn't it? now, u said u have been told to keep doing what ur doing and it will pay off.....did Sandy say that as well? what were her words exactly? the "too much" on the upper body......was she saying too much compared to your legs? too much size or too much conditioning?
