Hi all had a thought earlier today about competitions, to show muscle fbb/figure & fitness athletes must cut out some water from their diet to show definition

1) Doesn't it physically hurt to stand on stage lacking water ?

2) Has anyone actually collapsed on stage due to lack of water ?

 Strange question I know but no one has every told me the answer

1) Yes! It's hard enough on your body to be dehydrated, but when you're also trying to flex every muscle in your body, severe dehydration can lead to REALLY bad muscle cramps.

2) Yes again. In fact, if memory serves me correctly, a few bodybuilders have actually died that way...it's definitely not the safest part of competition!

Yeah people do pass out. I get frustrated sometimes when I see a competitor wobbling and the audience or judges have to yell at th expediters to help them out.

It's not the most healthy sport when you are on stage.

Well...It's Wednesday, and I would say that I am STILL slightly dehydrated from Saturday...I always make sure that I keep my potassium up to prevent cramping and something ready to drink in case of an emergency! Adrenaline is a magical thing that helps keep you going!!

^oh yes, most definitely...

I just remember the one thing that got to me the most was my heart racing like mad when I was done posing...like I had just run a marathon...

This is ridiculous to do this. When I used to train others I used to tell them to keep drinking water until they got onstage. They can get definition without cutting water out. Will they listen? Not usually.

I have dehydrated about 3 ways thus far.

My new fav is drinking extra amounts up until the night before then drinking some wine.

Then nothing to drink until after the evening show. That does SUCK.

I agree completely. More water I drink, the better I look. And, the easier I can flip myself around during that fitness routine!
