View Full Version : What to eat the day of a BB show

OK, so I am doing a figure competition this Sunday and then a BB competition next Saturday.
I am where I want to be for the figure comp, so I am sort of on cruise control for this week. My plan is to kick it up a notch for 5 days next week and train/diet to get a little harder, and of course drop some water for the BB show.
While I do not have the specifics of my diet finalized for next week, I will presumably be carbing up the day(s) before the BB show. (I have someone who is handling the diet for me)
BUT, what I am curious about is what I should plan on eating right before BB pre-judging. I would like to do whatever I can to maximize my hardness, fullness, and definitely my vascularity for the BB show.
Any advice on what to eat before going on stage for BB? And when to eat it??
Thanks!

The worst thing you can do is to start asking every one in town what to do at this critical point in time. You already have a consultant who presumably is visually evaluating you, monitoring your progress, and planning your program. Trust that person. Ask him/her these questions and follow his/her advice to the letter. If the advice ends in disaster then fire your consultant after the contest(s) and hire a new one for the next. Also, decide whether you want to be a bodybuilding competitor or a figure competitor. The standards and prep are different for each endeavor. Good Luck.

Great points echo. One thing I see a lot is people trying to get too much information from too many people. While it seems like it's a good idea to have a variety of input to go from, rarely does it work. There are some good general tips you can observe, but it's better to just listen to one person per prep.

hey I will offer this to you that's very simple and possibly something your prep person has already suggested...
4oz of redwine about 20min before you hit the stage will make veins appear like mad...
AND...
you'll be really relaxed! I don't get stagefright but since I had never done something like this I was pretty nervous but just that little bit of wine made me forget any butterflies and I just went out there and flowed through my poses instead of doing that umm, uhhh, errr thing :)

Let me ask you a dumb question gymdiva, why will red wine make your veins pop out?
Btw can you post a current pic of yourself? Wanted to check out your progress.

Alcohol is a diuretic which means it pulls water out of your system so you dry out and get more vascular. Coffee does the same I've noticed from early morning photo shoots :)

Just be careful about getting caught with alcohol backstage because many venue's do not allow this. Here in Colorado you will get kicked out of the venue thus not being able to compete.
Anything with sugar will make you vascular at this point.
Sharon--love you! ;)

I get too drunk when dehydrated, so a couple of squares of dark choc and niacin will give you the pump and vascularity.
If you are on BBing vitamins, check to see if they have niacin, loads do, and stop these for a week to two weeks pre comp.
It is a trip feeling the sugar rush through your body and the veins popping

The biggest reason alcohol, or sugar combined with alcohol, improves vascularity before a show is the fact that the sugar combined with the alcohol dialate the blood vessels, therfore enhancing vascularity. The sugar in the wine also gets into the muscles quickly, which can also help "push" the muscles closer to the skin.

this is true...one of the MW women had her's in a water bottle with a lime in it to make it look like juice...no one cared really but just in case she disguised it...one great thing about the elite here in town, they sell alcohol at the event so they more than welcome the wine backstage!
and I love you, too!!! :D
